My heat exchangers strated to leak on both sides , well I just noticed today.
Is this common? Maybe just on high mile sleds like mine 20233 miles.

Not a strange place. Common. Happens from standing and the heat exchanger flexing and rubbing on the tunnel mounts. Mine did the same thing at 14,000 miles. I got it welded but ended up buying a new one as I didn't trust the weld. I'm sure it would have been fine though.

Just found mine leaking in the same place also. Slow drip but enough to create a puddle on the floor. What type of epoxy did you use? Not looking forward to drilling out all those rivets, they will cost a small fortune to replace.

I have rivets that won't cost you a small fortune.....if you decide to go that route. You'll want an air riveter for these.

WOW

Wow seems like all of you lucked out with high mileage on your issue with the heat exchanger! mine has 6000 almost exactly and is leaking all over on the left side!! 197.00 new is it worth just buying new and being done with it or trying to epoxy it?

Is the biggest/only cause of these the running board flexing?

So if a person used tunnel strengtheners like Muffin Works, this problem wouldn't ever happen?
Just curious and thinking maybe I will purchase some to avoid this happening to me?

Mine did the same thing at 13,000 miles. My dealer replaced them under my YES warranty.

Very common on this site.

Good remedy is to weld/replace and then try not to bend the running boards excessively afterwards, plus maybe adding tunnel stiffeners.

Hey, great!!! Thats better than OEM. No matter if I decide weld, epoxy or replacement, it has to come off.

my father's apex did this, we had then welded and put some tunnel braces on the sled, no problems 3000 miles later

This was on another post.

If one side is leaking the other is probably close. Since its not structural maybe this would do the job.

Well I finally got around to pulling off the heat exchanger. Here is a some pics to show where it is leaking. I set it level and filled it with water. On all three pictures you can see the stress line where the leaks are, it runs most of the length of the exchanger. I think this will be a replacement and not a fix.
