My phazer is starting hader this year!

face it were all guinea pigs the best part is when you go too dealer at your expense which adds up quick to pick up your sled.it was done@2pm its now 6pm youre inside theyre bullshittin about all the crap they took care of insisting my sled doesnt overheat. in fact im the only one to complain about it . they tell me yamaha isnt doing fans. go to leave service manager says you cant leave i got a guy in your trailer puttin on some bolts he forgot. get home hard starting loud intake noise yellow ! blinking stalls down now hows that for customer service still waiting for them to fix they only clear theyre schedule for the paying work not work they screw up

I drained all my gas before starting it.Put fresh in.It started right up with a shot of starting fluid in the airbox.Started no problem while I was working on it in garage.Rode about 30mi and let it out overnight last night.Went to start it this morning.Nothing not even a pop.Gave it a shot of starting spray and fired right up.Got to 0 deg or a bit less last night.I am hoping this isnt a start of issue.Sure dont see why the Canadians are getting a fix for cold weather and not us.Yes normal temp is colder up there but on occasion we get pretty cold also.I am wondering if these folks with fouled plug tried starting fluid?Maybe plugs really arent fouled.I am hoping that in my case the little bit of old gas left in mine caused my issue. Will find out tomorrow morning since I filled it up with fresh gas and rode another hour or so today. Also called my dealer and asked him to look into the update.

Now as far as the update what exactly is done?As far as I know dealer cant reflash a ECU.Is it just parameters that are changed? If so what is changed?

Yes I agree. It started up this morning on its own.Took about to count of ten but it was like that last year also.Gas I put in initially must have also been a bit old.Was in can for about a week or two.Didnt like the long cranking last year though also but as long as it starts before battery dies I am good.

my phazer was starting harder at the start of the season but it seems to have cleared up,maybe after about 5 tanks of fuel,i had read about changing the plugs but decided not to,now its starting same as last year,it always starts with 3 - 4 cranks,i have 3000 trouble free miles

Last Year I was running 91 octane and the sled took about 5-7 cranks to start up. Over the summer I started it a a couple times and it generally took about 10 -15 cranks. Now this year I put a fitch fuel catalyst in and run 87 octane and it starts running at about the third crank. So I guess my sled my sled starts better because of the fitch fuel catalyst, 87 octane or because it is broken in a bit more. Whatever reason, it starts up right away now.

I have wondered what effect of 87 octane would be.Our manual recommend 91 or better but just says performance would be off with lower octane.I assume we have a knock sensor?

Yes the is a knock sensor. It's a sytem called KCS and there's a red light gauge cluster. The system progressivly deals with detonation. If it gets excessive it puts the engine in limp mode, the light flashes, and you have to restart I have found my sled started exactly the same on both fuels. Throttle response would suffer, but the top end speed seemed unaffected.
