yamaha designed a safety switch on the pahzer that does not allow the engine to fire until oil pressure is sufficient

cranks over 3 or 4 time and fires right up, mine idles around 1800 rpm when warmed up, don't know if that too high or not

yah this is normal for when the engine has warmed up. it will idle between 2500 and 2800 when the engine is cold but when it warms up it will drop to about 1700-1800rpm. this is nothing to worry about
