Well after a lousey start to this Winter we got some good snow and My Wife got to ride Her FX Nytro. I was a little concerned about how she would like because she loved Her 05 Rev. Well halfway through the ride she askes Me over our comunicators if the Nytro is lighter than her Rev. I told Her no and asked why She would say that. She said it handled easier than Her Rev and couldn't beleive how well it steered. She said she has never owned a sled that steered this good with such little effort. Now remember Her sled has Pilot skis on it with 6 inch shapers in the middle and stockers on the ends. We went over some beat up trail on one section and I asked Her how it felt over the rough stuff and she laughed and said your kidding right? What rough stuff? I have Her sled setup as light as possible all around and I pulled up on the front limiter strap one hole. She said on the long fast trails and roads she had no darting or any twtchy feeling and thought the sled felt great in all conditions.
The only negative she noted was the throttle response. She felt that it was very aggressive and needed some time to get used to it. By the end of the day she felt that she was getting the hang of the throttle and figures it will be a non issue after a few more rides. She was also getting used to the engine braking and learning not to let off the throttle all at once like her old 2 stroke. She noted that the power was "unreal" and the sled "wants to be ridden hard" and she thinks it going to be a "fun" sled to ride. All in all I think she really likes the sled and for those who think this sled is a "ditchbanger" only sled and something the Wife or girl freind won't like you are mistaken. The same things that make the Rev a great sled for the Wife will make the Nytro a great sled for them also. Light easy handling, rider forward, great steering with little effort and the feeling they are controling the sled and not the sled controling them. I should also mention that along with the Pilot skis I have the tall windsheild, side deflectors and mirrors on her sled. I feel these are a must or she wouldn't be too happy with the joke of a windsheild that comes with the sled or the darty twtchy stock Yamaha skis.

Thanks for the follow up post, it's been what since August?

I doubt that I'm the only one who had been wondering if a properly setup FX Nytro could be competitive with a GSX for a less aggressive style of riding. If I were to listen the prevailing winds blasting in this forum and from much of the media, I would stay away from the FX Nytro and either buy a Phazer or jump over to BRP as I simply no longer care for the sit-down riding position. (I bought another Phazer)

Your post is spot on in describing what I want in a snowmobile and I'm pretty secure in my masculinity even though I have no need to ride one-handed and like to have good wind protection and functional mirrors.

Thanks again. ;)!

Lots of us prefer a nice windshield.Made me happy to hear sometimes the shields even give you more topend.Way I see it if your eating snow dust its hard to set someone up for a pass windshield lets you get it done much safer!

Thats good news that your wife loves her Nytro. It's been my experience that women won't hesitate for a second to tell it how it is. If they are not comfortable or want something changed, they'll let us men know. Seeing how she never complained once about the sled, tells me that this sled is spot on for any rider to enjoy.

I agree completely, us guys tend to make light of the negatives on our sleds because we are too proud to admit when we made a mistake. Now our Wives are a different story, they don't sugar coat much and if it isn't right they will tell you. She had a few not so favorite sleds in the past and I either made them right or bought her something else. I think what really impressed her was the steering and handling. I just picked up an 08 Rev XP 500ss as a spare sled and I think we will both be trying it out to see what all this lightweight stuff is all about. I will admit that it is really light and I had no problem getting it out of My van by Myself.

I'm 250lbs and I drive an FX with no problems. It out right rocks.. You guys make this sled sound like its a ladies sled. The GYTR's is where its at. I may need heavier rear springs at some point. However so far so good. :drink:

I'm 230 geared up with a FX standard and everything is almost at the softest setting and it is awesome (once I got it set up). Definately not a chicks sled it would ride way to hard.
