This my first season on my 08 apex I have 600 km on it allready. But the gas tank is to small because of new epa regulations the, 08 gas tank is aleast 3 litters smaller. This means that in stead of 36 litters we now only have 33 litters and it is not enough range ! Does any one know were to buy a bigger tank that will work with my seat Thanks Krustinator W.F.O.

Just noticed in the newest issue of SnowTech, (page 44) that the new 08's are 9.4 gallons, vs. 10.12 gallons for the 06-07 models. You could always find a tank out of the older model from a person who has replaced his with a front mount turbo kit tank I suppose.

Nope, the tank is different due to EPA permeation requirements.

Where do you ride, where that much of a volume difference is a detriment?

I have a '08 APEX LTX and just pulled out my owners manual and YEP! the fuel tank capacity is less...here is what the manual reads:
RX10LT 35.6L/9.41US gal/7.83 Imp.gal.CAN
so this answers my ? to why my buddy with his RX1 '05 runs longer on a tank!!!

They are forcing manufactuers to thicken up the walls of there fuel cells to contain gasoline fumes better.Just like the re-call on the XP fuel cells.

IMO the tanks on all Apex's are too small.
The RX-1's tank could use at least 4 liters more than an 06 Apex and the RX-1 also got at least 10-15% better fuel economy. The fuel range difference I see is roughly 177 miles (RX) to 130 miles (Apex) - taking it easy; or 120 miles (RX) to 80 miles (Apex) - riding very hard.
Now with the 08 Apex holding 3 liters less than the 06 Apex and still burning way more than an RX-1 I'm surprised the aren't more complaints on here.
I want to purchase an auxiliary tank to add to my RTX. I think a 10+ liter custom tank would fit nicely in the nose of the sled. I expect I'd keep it empty for aggressive local riding and fill it up for long range saddle bag trips.
I've sent e-mails to Chris at Tour Buddy, but he tells me that there isn't enough interest to justify manufacturing a tank for the Apex/RX/RS/Attak line of sleds (the same custom tank would work on all of them).
