Hi guys !
I'm the owner of a Rev Renegade and i will be in the market for a new sled next year. I would like to have opnion from FX Nytro owner comming from the REV.
How is the handling of the Nytro vs the REV ?
How is the suspension ? Can it handle bumps and twist trail like the REV ?
How is the weight vs the REV ?
How is many mile/km can you do with on tank ?
I have now 18 000km on my REV so i think it's time for a new one and i'm torn between the Nytro and the new XP.
My REV have a 600HO (not SDI) and i must say that i didn't had big problem with it but i would like to have a more reliable motor and i think the Nytro have one.
Thanks you guys !

The nytro is alot like the rev nut your legs aren't as ben as munch, little more comfortable.
Of course the 4 stoke engine is differnt then a two stroke.I think it's the closet 4 stroke engine to a 2 stroke. It revs super fast. The sled feels really light and is a balst.AS far as bumps it's better then the rev.You won't be dissapointed when you get it tuuned in to your riding style.

Buy a Nytro you won't be dissapointed. Several of my frineds have revs and prefer my Nytro.
You will love the engine but the suspension is stiff, way to stiff for me, and handling is not as good as a rev for me, ergos are good, but you need waterproof boots,

I think the handeling is better than any of my revs were and my boots don't get any wetter on the Nytro than they did on a Rev. I perfer the Nytro suspension but the Rev is a better deep snow chassi

I'll second that. Due to the tunnels squared off profile and relatively flat angle of running boards, the rear of the tunnel drags in deep snow and will get you hung up. I love the tunnel for trail riding and hitting bumps but it does take away from off trail performance. Depends on what your primary focus is.

I can live with the tunnell, my issue is the front end is like a snow plow! I have an "extended front grab bar" and "flotation skid plate" on order form Yamaha. It might be ugly but I'm going to try it. So when I get it (probably in 3 or 4 months according to how long I wait for everything) I'll let you know how it works
Miley,
If you haven't already, ditch the stock 5" wide skis for some 6" wide ones and you'll see a world of difference when riding in deep snow. 7" work even better for off-trail riding but I think they take too much away from trail handling, at least my 7" wide Yamaha ones do.

My buddies think their XP 800X's are junk suspension is cheap chasis falls apart just junk and these are fro true Doo guys. You cant stand right on them because there is no way to hold your feet in. The Nytro suspensio is the best out the ONCE SETUP RIGHT. The sled just plain rocks. I am so glad I backed out on my spring order XP 800 X it isnt even funny those sleds are junk!

I dont see how anyone can say the rev takes the bumps better than the rev. I am still trying to tune my suspension but my fx nytro rtx is so stiff that it is very difficult to ride for any length of time.
I took my 2003 rev 800 mxz sport out with my new nytro. The nytro is so stiff and takes so much effort to ride that is very difficult to keep up with the rev.
I love the nytro engine, the quality, and can control it in the turns but the stutter bumps are killing me.

I was having problems too in the moguls till this weekend. I listened to what others did and copied that to my sled. Pulling my front and back limiter straps down 2 holes from the stock setting changed my opinion of the sled. I can ride the sled through the moguls with ease. A couple REV's riding with me backed off trying to keep up with me because my Nytro was running so good.
The stand up riding is better then my F7 sno pro with a 6.5" riser. The bars are right there, and I didn't even change a thing from the dealer.
I'm telling ya folks, this sled is the real deal. I was snooping over on DooTalk and saw a clip of some guy hill climbing and the rear idler wheel flew off his sled. I seen a whole lot of problems with the new XP's. Kinda sucks plunking down 10k for a new sled and have to keep going back to the dealer for fixes.

I ran onto a Ski-Doo dealer on our trails about a week ago, and he said how he was displeased with all the XP's he had coming back t him for nusance repairs. Nothing so far has been too major, but he commented that he used to be a Ski-Doo dealer because they were the best, now he's upset that Ski-Doo keeps using their customers for R&D...
I had him ride my Nytro, which was just a short run up the trail, through som rough stuff and back. When he got off, he said he coudn't believe how awesome it is. He also couldn't believe that it wasn't modified at all, and that he has always impressed with Yamaha's clutching.
My brother in law keeps his REV 600 at my house, and I've ridden that sled quite a bit, but I wouldn't choose to ride it again now that I have my Nytro.

I let a guy that has been on a rev the last 2 years and said my sled is far better then his rev 600.... he told me Yamaha nailed it....
But my sled is set up correctly too and that will make a huge difference on how the few all the criteria you posted!!

I'm a Yamaha-SkiDoo-and back to Yamaha guy.
99 SXR600, 01 SXR700, 03 Rev 600 trail, 04 Rev 600 HO, 05 Rev 600 SDI, 06 Renegade 600 SDI, 07 Phazer, O8 FX Nytro
How is the handling of the Nytro vs the REV ?
Very much like the 05 Rev, which was the last year before SkiDoo lowered the ride height 1.5 inches. I still have the 05 - best Rev ever IMO. The biggest difference is that the Nytro has the 1.25 Ripsaw track - same as your Renegade. This track hooks up so well, that its hard to get the rear-end loose to throttle steer (powerslide) around corners on the Nytro. My 06 Renegade was a truck in the corners with the same track. The 121 sleds are so much easier to flick through the corners. Of course the 121 Revs all had 1-inch tracks. More track spin on the 121 Revs. Much less on the Renegade, and the Nytro really hooks up well. As far as ratings for cornering: Rev 121 = 9.5. Nytro is a 9.45 when set up well, and probably a 3 with the stock setup. Renegade was a 6 or 7 by comparison - controllable, but like a station wagon vs a Corvette.
In its stock setup, the Nytro will wheelie all the time and push through every corner. The suspension adjustment is VERY sensitive and little changes can change an unruly sled into a rocket on rails.
How is the suspension ? Can it handle bumps and twist trail like the REV ?
Handling the bumps: Rev 121 is a 9. Nytro when set up properly is a 9.75- pretty amazing. My Renegade was horrible on whooped out trails. Probably rated a 4. It would buck side to side at anything over 25 to 30 mph. On the Nytro (after dialing in the setup), I've blitzed whoop sections at 50 with a big grin and complete confidence.
Standing on the Nytro is perfect for me (6' 1"). The Phazer is about the same. On the Rev's, I'm always just a bit hunched over - but I didn't realize it until I rode the Yamahas. The X-package Revs, with the riser blocks, would probably be just as comfortable as the Nytro - but I haven't ridden an X - just stood on them. Nytro seat is much firmer than the Revs. Seating position is half-way between the Rev and the XP. More possible foot positions - can sit forward or back more. I don't have to hit the Ibuprofin for moderate knee pain the way I did on the Rev's
How is the weight vs the REV ?
Its heavier. Very noticable when going back and forth rom the Phazer to the Nytro. However, the motor is SOOOO responsive, it makes the sled feel much lighter than it is. I can't believe that this sled can eat up a rough trail like its a 225 pound MX bike - but it does exactly that. Then again, last year when I was switching back and forth from a 05 Rev 600SDI to the Phazer, I thought the Rev felt BIG and bulky.
How is many mile/km can you do with on tank ?
Nytro is getting mid 16's (MPG-US) on the trails. With maybe 7 usable gallons, figure about 105 miles for range. I expect over 17 by mid season so probably 110 miles tops. Rev 600 HO carbed was 12 mpg and about 9.5 gallons usable = 114 miles. Rev 600 SDI ranged from 18 to 22 mpg and range was never an issue because someone else always needed gas way before I did.
Hope that helps.
LOVE the engine (and the absence of carb issues).
Ride and handling are outstanding (after 500 miles of suspension and carbide tweeking).
