I was wondering if someone can help me???I own a 04 Warrior with a set of HH weights,o-s-o spring, silver sec,144 studs ,cr9ek plugs..
Last season I was hitting 190-195 on the dream meter no problem..sled pulled like a train..this year sled pulls hard rpm's @ 10500 but max speed is 160-165...I'm running on hard packed trail -15-20 degrees c..I did not change anything this year except for belt and plugs..belt deflection is within spec,,bearings are new.. :o| getting tired of being smoked by my friends on their machines
any suggestions on what I can do to get top end back???

thanks

LW

Were the springs under tension all of the off season? They couldve possibly lost some tension.

speed

No the springs were not relieved of tension during storage...sled seems a little heavier on front than before...

One guy on here proved 3mph with 5/16" lock washers on the secondary to increase the over drive. He even took his secondary off put it on a identical sled did a radar run and that sled picked up 3mph on the top end.

I was initially thinkin' the springs may have lost some of their strength. Have you noticed a change in RPMs when shifting out at WOT? Did the engagement RPM change at all? If both of these RPM readings did not change, then I would consider starting by replacing the Secondary's Spring. If the engagement changed, then I would consider replacing them both. If the RPMs are the same as they were before the spring change then I would look elsewhere.

If you are seeing some abnormal revs (i.e. high), Did you clean off the belt and sheaves this year? You may want to consider checking Belt Deflection and last possibly checking Center-To-Center (low probability of a problem here.).

When is the last time you cleaned and synced the carbs? Have you changed type of fuel? Is there an increase of carbon in the Pipe tips. If there is, could you have lost compression due to a carboned up ring?

steering knuckles?

check to see if your steering knuckles are bent, i was having a problem getting topend and found my steering knuckles were bent and creating more drag on the skis

more speed

the knuckles on the sled are fine...just installed new spindles this year also.as for change in rev's @ wot it jumps to 10500 drops back to 10200-10300 and climbs back to 10500.I find that the sled is running great except for the loss of top speed.. fuel economy is good no extra carbon on exhaust tips..no arcing coils, clutches are clean..Maybe I'll order another silver sec spring and see what that does..and check track tension again..

speed

I checked my sled over again...I cleaned the carbs.checked the springs and shocks everything checked out..I installed new skis Vk pro models new carbides.adjusted limiters..sled rides with little weight on skis so there is no drag...I just can't get the sled back up to 105+ mph on dream metereverything is in spec..clutches are fine..rpms@ 10500..can a weak sec spring cause this???/I installed new spring towards end of last season so the miles on it are low

any suggestions

Mike

After a hard run check the temps of the clutches. If one of them is HOT then the belt is slipping

Did you ever order new springs for the clutches? I noticed my engagement is lower than it used to be. just got the new springs. I am going to radar run it before and after the change. I have a radar gun.
I'll post my findings. I also bought a 23 top gear for it. I plan on doing the same with the radar gun on the gear swap.
