I am on my 3rd sled with Mack studs. Ride pretty hard. I can count on one hand the number of studs that have bent or pulled through. In my opinion, they are not junk at all. They hold up extremely well as a matter of fact! I had 4K+ miles on my XC700 and when I traded it in, there were 4 bent studs. I only know this because they wrote it up on the inspection report. Original track as well (on it's last leg).
1,000 miles on my 07 Attack GT and studs still look brand new. Just looked at them today coincidentally!

DaMick85 said:SledFreak it's funny that you mentioned the Executive Series cause I was looking at those before you mentioned it. When you say they dart a bit is it tolerable or more arm wrenching. I don't mind a little darting at all, but I would prefer not have 2 dislocated shoulders after a ride. In your experience how was the wear, and is the cornering truly as good as Woody's claims?
Thanks for all your advice,

...Well almost got another 2 weeks before I can crack open a brew....
I will admit on hard ground, the single runner can be a hand full, but if you ride real aggressive in the trail, they are tough to beat IMO. Shimming the front of the skis are a must with this combo as well. The Pilots are also a good combo, but I'm just to cheap to dish out the funds for skis, since I believe I should not have to pay for a set and Yamaha should do something about these piece of junk skis. Bottom line is this, the duelies work. For long tours, put in the duelies. For short runs and aggressive riding runnning then run the executive series and shim the skis. There is a post around here, that tells you how to shim the skis and it does help alot. It's kind of a spend and learn when you have to deal with these skis and the way you want it to handle. I would try the 8" executive series first and shim the skis and if it's darting to much, then buy the duelies OR if you can afford it, don't even put on the duelies and get the ski-doo pilot skis with the 6" carbides and don't look back. Hope this helps...

I wore the stock junk carbides out on the first trip. I ordered the 8" Bergstrom triple points but I had to run a set of 8" single carbides that I had from my old Viper until the back ordered triple points arrived. The 8" single carbides darted so violently on hard pack that it was downright dangerous!
After installing the Bergstrom 8" triple points I'll never run anything else. These carbides turn as good as a 8" single and I have no darting whatsoever. They also wear better than anything I have ever seen.
Great product and Scott Bergstrom is a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended!

I can hardly believe that the Yamaha guys are putting Doo Pilot skis on their sleds and actually liking them? The stock Yammy skis must be real crap! The first thing we were doing with our Revs was throwing the pilots away and putting on C&As or USIs.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not condeming the pilots, it's just the fact that if you are spending money on a new set of skis, I think there are far better aftermarket choices than the pilots.

The Pilots are a great ski for trail riding, but not good for racing. C&A's are good for racing, but are very tough to turn.
