Man it's getting that time again. I was checking my sled on the trailer today and got the itch. I'm looking for a set of stiffer springs for my 08 MTX. With the extra gas that I have to carry due to the small tank on the sled I need stiffer ones. Can I get them OEM or is there a better aftermarket version.

I just looked at the Parts Finder link (click) near the top of this page, and there are 2 different spring tensions (1300 & 1500) showing on the microfiche.
I wonder if the torsion springs would be interchangeable with the shorty (121") Nytros, but they seem to have a higher rating, up to 2100.
There is also the Hygear torsion spring spacers option too.

What are the factory springs ...1300 or 1500. Thanks.

I was looking at the Hypergear and like the idea, but it says on the site not to be used if a heavier preload is needed. Usually when we ride I take 2 - 10L gas can on the back for the 150-200 mile days. I find the sled bottoms a lot easier. I am not a super agressive rider but would like a little less bottoming. What do You recommend.
thanks

Yes the apex springs are bigger, then i also have the heaviest spring as well. The apex spring is a noticeable upgrade, and the heavy apex rear spring makes a huge difference, i used it with my rear tank on my impulse kit and made a huge difference.
The stock nytro is a 1300nm, the apex is 1500, and the heavy spring is a 2100nm.

So, what you're saying is that the Apex and FX Nytro springs are interchangeable?

Yes, they nytro mtn springs can be swapped with apex mtn, however you cannot swap shorty springs, too short

Great info.
With my riding style not being too aggressive, and only wanting the stiffer springs for the extra weight. Do you think I should go with the 1500's or the 2100's ?
Again thanks for the info and advice.
