Hey guys,

Been onsite quite a bit since I sold my Doo and like it a lot! I've been wanting to go 4-stroke ever since and picked up a '12 Nytro XTX in black last Sat!

It now sits in the shop waiting for snow and accessories! Have a Roest belly pan on order for now and deciding other options. I thought the Doo's didnt have storage, some things dont change! Any ideas on moving tail light, trail tank and bag ideas feel free to share ideas!

Really look forward to riding this thing!

Robert

Moving the tail light to the very back, just above the rear bumper is pretty simple, just remove the little red reflector and put the tail light there, and then it gives you plenty of room on the tunnel for a tunnel rack/bag of your choice. Just get a 90 exhaust turnout so you don't melt anything.

Here is a 121 stretched to 136 with the tail light moved.

I got Yamaha's soft saddle bags for the Nytro and works great. Bags don't move even while ditch banging or pushing hard thru a mogul field. Only 15-30 seconds to remove or put back on.

Welcome... Nice ride.
Here is a couple photos of my xtx setup.
Cheers

Thanks, safety first, I had a driver so I could take pics and send!!

My housing seems longer than what mach9's pics show, is it more than one piece or do you fab/cut/sand it down to what you want? sleddingfarmer guessing you just mounted the light with no housing?

Is the wiring long enough to extend out to the back? I've searched on here and seen a couple fellas route wiring underneath and protect the wire but not sure if you have to splice and make longer...

I'm going to try it out and see how far I can go on a tank. Can I realistacally expect 100 miles on a tank? I gotta believe I can get that?

Thanks guys!

I get 100 with trails and rodding on it. If out in deep backwoods I would expect it closer in the 70 mile range. But, honestly 100 miles of trails is pretty easy for a full tank.

Light relocate.
It was awhile ago now.
I used the reflector bracket.
I think I drilled it out and flipped it over? And the holes lined up perfect to the back of the light.
This gets the light sitting straight out on the correct angle.
Then I pulled apart the plastics, used the rear piece and trimmed it down to the shape I wanted. (it's easy to trim with scissors or sharp blade)
The 2 tabs that clip into the tunnel I put 2 small holes in them.
Drilled out the 2 center rear snow flap rivets.
Found some spacers, washers and bolts...
Then mounted the trimmed plastic cover, the tabs bent but held up nice.
Sealed the top edge with silicone.
The plastic moves in about 1/2" further than it was before but you can't really tell. Still looks stock.
Moved the wire under tunnel, spliced and soldered more wire.
Protected the new wire with tubing.
Zip tied it against the tunnel protector.

I moved the light for the extra fuel. But a bonus came with.
The snow falls off easier. Before when in the stock location ice and snow would build up on the top edge of the tunnel and completely cover the tail light. Not so much anymore.

I just bolted the light on, ran the wires underneath the tunnel extension. Been 2 seasons, with no issues. The light does kinda point upward so it isn't a perfect set up, but I was in a hurry...like usual.

Could also buy a aftermarket LED light for relatively cheap, like 30 to 50 bucks, and make a bracket out of aluminum, bend it how you need it, drill some holes and mount it. Very easy. I did it on my new ski doo.

storage

I had a tank bag on my apex and it was ok, but I personally never really used all the space. I guess it depends on how much stuff your going to take with you and how long and what kind of riding. I usally take what I need and no extra especially when boondocking alot, damn sleds are heavy enough. If you are young and fit you might want to think about a back pack. Not for me but my nephew loves his especially when I put some extras in there lol. I just bought a xtx and kevin at port yamaha said if you dont need much storage that the handle bar bag is good 30 dollars.

Wow thanks for all the ideas guys! I might wait until I run out of gas before I worry about that but that is defenitlly something that could work out.

aws37, that is who I dealt with, Port. Great guys to work/deal with and would reccomend them to anyone! Mike was great!

I run with a back pack now and that will work until I get used to it!

Thanks again for all your help!

I have the same saddle bags and they work great.

Congrats! Mind if I ask how much out the door you paid? I am looking to buy the exact same sled in the very near future. I have thought of buying from Port but they are a bit out of the way, especially for any service needs.
