I just changed the belt on my 06 Nytro for the first time, 4850 miles. Now, when the sled is idling, the belt squeals unbelievably. It seems that the same thing happened to a guy I know's Vector last year. It doesn't happen until the sled warms up, and then only when sitting at idle. Any thoughts?

Pull 1 small washer from each 8mm head bolt(3) on the back of the secondary clutch , belt is riding too high (effectivly to short ).

Did you give it a nice soap water bath before installing it? I had the same thing with my Vmax years ago, a guy told me to wash them before installing and I've been doing it ever since. <not saying that's your problem tho>

It will go away. Mine went away after a couple hundred miles.
900 miles last weekend and its still there, not as loud, but still there. I was going to remove some shims, but we never stopped long enough! ;)!

Waiting for the squeal to go away instead of removing shims just means your wearing the belt down prematurely. Bite the bullet and remove the shims, it only takes a few minutes.

That is your deflection telling you that the belt is too tight. Yam does not have easy deflection adjustment so I would tend to wear belt in. Me I try to pick up used belts with no flat spots & go another 3000 miles as fit better & no adjsutment. Some people ask dealers to change belts every year with 200 miles on them. I buy them from used parts dealer as used part for like $10 instead of belts being thrown out.
