as i posted earlier -i am doing the break-in of my grizz and was wondering if the shifting between the park,neutral.etc.. gets easier over time.mine seems to be a little bit of a bear at times to get into park especially. also, does everyone come to complete stop before shifting in/out of 2/4wd?the manual says to stop completely but alot of other brands are on the fly.just curious-i am stopping completely ;)!

The shifting gets a bit easier with use but both of mine have remained nasty to get into park. I often have to rock the machine to get it to click.

The 2/4wd shift can be done on the fly. The High to Low range shift should be done with the machine stopped.

If you plow snow or do a lot of mud running and shift into reverse and low quite a bit , it will free up. Mine shift quite easy into park when you step in the brake.

not much for snow here in sunny az..i have figured out that if i use the footbrake it will go into the gears a little easier.

i just read a review in dirtwheels mag on an 05' grizzly they say its a very good machine except:
1.) poor fuel mileage-7-8mpg
2.) poor rear brakes
3.) hard starting when cold

its too early for me to compare mpg's,my brakes are not as strong feeling as i would like and lastly my grizzly starts right up immediatly everytime.how about anyone else agree/disagree?

I just spent a weekend of quality time with my '05 and I agree with the dirtwheels review. 8)

Our group of ten consisted of 3 Grizzlys, 4 Sportsman of various sizes, an '03 Kodiak 450, a new Suzuki King Quad and a Suzuki Z400.

All of the Sportsman machines suffered from plugged radiators and overheating after mud bogging. My '05 and the Z400 were the only other machines to get a heat light. We were in some nasty goo, it was great. ;)!

The 05 griz is the same as the 04, same specs and all I do believe. Mine gets at least 12 mpg, rear brakes work great and starts immediatly and always did when stock, until my latest charging problem that is the only prob. thus far in 1400mis.

For a quick stop I put a brake lock like on the older griz and big bears. It just takes a trip to the grinder and you have a good parking brake. Sometimes mine goes into park a little hard too.

I have been riding mine easy during the break in and have been getting good gas mileage. 21mpg. That is way better than my 00 griz ever got.

i went for a ride this weekend and i averaged 24 mpg .. and the trails were very hilly. and it is easy to get it into park but it somtimes won't come and but if it rolls a little back and forth itll click and the light turns on.
