2004 Yamaha RX-1 ER
So I bought my first sled. It's a 2004 RX-1 ER. I'm obviously new to this and looking to meet some good people and learn about this machine.

Thanks. Has anybody on here used yamahapartshouse.com? Also, anybody on here from around Rockford? I would love to meet up with someone and talk about this thing.

Speaking of servicing it...any suggestions on oil brand? Should I get the Yamaha kit? Planning on doing that here soon. Also what are these black things in the picture?

Indy is correct-supports, not really needed for groomed trail rideing, Most use Mobil 1 0w40 for oil and just order a oil filter off ebay or they are cheap at auto parts. Might want to change anti-freeze if ya dont know when it was last changed-mix 60/40 40 water.

check the exhaust donuts, check the bearings in the skid/drive train and i recommend carbides and the ski shim mod from the tec pages. it should be a good winter for you.

btw welcome to the site!

welcome to this new to you sled and site. i have an 04 as well. its a great and reliable sled. a few modifications will make it much more comfortable and fun. start saving up your money for the mod bug!

I'm from Malta- about 45 min southeast of you.

Live right on State Line Rd. south of Clinton. Trail crosses 1/4 mile west of me. There's a BUNCH of guys around here that are members.

I'm in Kalamazoo. Ride the Kal-Haven trail, Baldwin trails & surrounding areas. Usually take a few trips to the Gaylord area each year as well. I also try to get in a trip to the U.P. for a 4-day trip every winter.

Welcome. If you have some time, take a road trip to Highlands Yamaha in Countryside, Illinois. Once the snow shows are over, their showroom is loaded with gear and parts. It's pretty much a mecca of Yamaha.
