3 weeks ago i decided to buy (steal of a deal) this Turbo Parts / repair sled with a possible dropped valve / excessive oil burning problem. Turns out it was a gold mine of aftermarket goodies that I couldn't pass up not listed in the ad. Someone spent a lot of $$ on this sled

New 162 track (also a con i will shorted this up no need for such length as ill be trail riding it more)

Hopeful for you that it's fixable. They can get real expensive when they break things.

That looks great, they are fun to mod! If the motor is broke just look for a used one and replace, it may be easier!

Checked all the vitals and fire it up, holy smoke show I filled the garage within minutes. Motor had no noise what so ever so that was good sign. Once i could see again I noticed entire backside of the sled was coated in oil, ha knew right away it was more then likely just turbo seals blown out. After few minutes of pulling the seat and heat shield became more obvious there was oil everywhere. Pulled the filter and muffler to confirm. Looks like a call to Alamo Turbo hear in edmonton for a rebuild.

Pulled the turbo off and fired it up and no smoke, no abnormal noise looks like i lucked out. Got the turbo into Alamo and now the waiting game. Since i had the time i started looking over the system to see what could of caused such a low mileage turbo to go out (owner reported roughly 1000kms since install). Didnt take long to find the return oil pump pin sheered off. On my way into town got a call the turbo ready sweet.

Turbo was probably good just pushing oil past the seal rings? Oil in charge air cooler or was it coming out the exhaust side?

It was in pretty rough shape, lots of play in the shaft and some damage to the intake impeller. I probably removed close to 1/2 litre of oil from the intercooler she was pushing pretty good.

Took the rx1 out for ride yesterday with the little snow we had left in the area, all i can say is man does this thing pull. Seems to be pushing 10lbs of boost and runs great. I find it very well balanced and rides nicely with the float shocks all around. Next step is to remove the seat / tank / track to begin looking moving the turbo to a mid mount.

Got bored yesterday and decided was time to start the rear mount to mid mount turbo swap. Already had a spare rev tank and seat from my sled sitting around. Need to fab up a exhaust header and decide on what track length i want to go with this 162 is bit to long for what i intend to use the sled for.

Are you going to abandon the tunnel charge air cooler or doesn't' it have one?

I built my own system a few years back. I put the turbo the other direction than what you have yours set at.

I was worried about having this much heat directly under the gas tank so I built some heat shields. You have to be real careful when fueling so you don't spill any gas because it will get down around the hot turbo.

I didnt realize till i went to pull the exhaust that it had one thought was just a hose running to the back of the sled, it coming out will no longer be needed once the turbo is moved. The raised section of tunnel also needs to be removed and flat section put in so the tank can sit flush
