New ice scratchers

Here are my homemade...I wanted something as far forward as possible to get as much snow as possible in the suspension and no stress to running boards with all the vibration, had them on my previous '05 RX1 for 12.000kms and now on my '08 APEX for 10.000kms and still going strong, they work top notch, you forget their actually scrubbing the heck out of the snow & ice with hardly any vibration, you should see how they SPRAY, the rear suspension loads up of snow & ice in no time and HYFAX & MOTOR run nice and cool.

I actually saw 2 "DOO" XP stopped last year on the trail, 1 had his track clips WELDED to his melted HYFAX'S and the other had COOLANT leaking from overheating, they couldn't beleive I could ride in those conditions if they couldn't, it was like -30 ish early morning on HARD packed trails...man I wish I had a camera that morning.

Check out the 1st pick, this was our last ride late in March in granular heavy "snicth" its loaded of snow, check the RAILS out LOADED of snow, I have a rear heat exchanger and the snow stills accumulates cuz of the quantity being spayed in tunnel area.

slidekicks ice scratchers

I've used the slidekick ice scratchers on my Apex for the past two seasons.
Most of the time I didn't need them, but on hard pack roads, lakes, or marginal snow conditions is where they worked great. I put on about 1200 miles per year and my slides are about half worn. I've never hooked anything with them and backing up is no problem. I would strongly recommend them if your having wear issues at the bend in the rail.

This is the set I saw on several mountain sleds last year up in Cochrane. The trails were like concrete, almost no loose stuff. Everyone and I mean everyone was burning sliders off and overheating. then came along these mountain sleds with massive paddle tracks running with no problems. There was at least 25 people on all makes of sleds that were very envious. When I got back to North Bay they were totally sold out and would not be getting anymore for the season. This system works. Thanks for mentioning where they can be purchased this year.

I just recieved my 2 pair of slidekicks today. Will see how they perform this winter on my turbo & xtx!

I have seen a write up on these in a forum and they broke after the first ride one stud missing and the holder mangled and all the plastic coating broken and cracked , i have not tried them but i would wait to see what others think.

Slide kicks work great. Not as well as RSI scratchers (which are the best IMO), but they look great and work well enough to get the job done. And the key is you can use reverse.

I have already ordered two sets, one for the wifes 07 Blizzard and a set for my attak. Last year up north we were on very hard pack and her light kept coming on making us "find" snow. So now I am just waiting for them to show up. But I have a question on mounting them. On the website they show them mounted to the rails but I see that a lot of you mount them to the tunnel. Is this a better area to mount them??

You may be refering to 'Yellowknife' who had little good to say about the first generation sidekicks. He has second generation ones now that appear to be holding up much better if I remember correctly.

You just know I will post a performance report with pics...good or bad as I do for any product I purchase!!!

I got a set this week to, and put them on my phazer. They look well built in my opinion. i will let you know how it goes.
