Sorry. You're right R1. I meant the previous Phazers. My wife's '99 500 fan is about 57 hp, right in line with the older ones. I like riding my wifes every now and then because it's so light. Lacking a little hp though, and if it had 23 more ponies under the hood it just might fit the bill.

srvfan said:Is that thing ugly or what!!!! who the heck is gonna buy that it looks was too tippy and high for tradiational trail riding . Something only a ditch banging 20 year old would love and my prediction is it won't have enough power for those guys. My wife was thinking of updating out of her old Vmax style Phazer to a nice light new 4 stroke . but that thing ? she'd go half a mile and be frozen and want to go home. Why couldn't they put that motor in a 3/4 scale vector? that's what people really want . i mean you can only ditch bang in what one or two states anyhow . And how many sleds are sold in those couple states compared to everywhere else.?
My guess is they just wanted to be able to say , "Se you can make a4strk as light as a 2strk" , and have something they can win at X games and snocross with on a factory level.
The Rev started it,we have now come full circle back to the engine on the tunnel thing of the 1960'S .
Cut that thing off at the gas tank and build a traditional , but light front end and then you'd really have something.
My prediction very poor sales and dropped in a couple years.
What states are you refering to? This phazer will make it and/or lead to the next thing. Every year the 4 stroke yamaha's get lighter. Personal tastes aside on the phazer the truth is Yamaha is the "leader in the clubhouse" in the snowmobile business and the phazer will just make it grow more. Yamaha is going to sell ALOT of these phazers and I think people are going to love them. Gas and Go Baby. Owners of these things will probably say the same thing I say about my 94' Ovations. "Year after year they just run."

I agree! I think it is a very nice addition to the Yamaha line up. I'm glad to see that they left this big innovation at one model and still offer the previous choices, as this sled is not for everyone. I'd love to try one out, but would hate it if I didn't like it and all of their models were the same setup.

500cc twin 4stroke with 80hp! very impressive. Do you guys think this mini monster of an engine will be reliable?

There is no ditch banging allowed in any state in the east or in Quebec . In the west it is legal in what Minesota (sp?) and where else? don't get me wrong I lOVE the idea . But I'm a traditional sled rider hate Revs , hate the Apex , well Apex/Nytro is somewhat ok if you take off the bug deflector and put on something 3xs as high so you an ride it bellow 0 . Went out this weekend with Cat riding buddies with their bug deflector cut down windshields . Bellow 0 40MPH winds , they where all dangerously cold and we turned back in 20 miles. I love the idea of that sled but it's Fugly , tall , narrow. Build a 3/4 size Vector and then you'd have a hit .

srvfan, don't know what states your talking about in the east but were i live ditch banging is huge. the only people that bother you are the certain land owners that put up snow fences to keep you out. some small towns around here have designated roads for snowmobiling we have the right of way over cars. totally legal here. 11 years of riding/ ditch banging without a problem. (phazer rocks)

Out of curiosity, why do the 07 Phazers come with the older style snow flap and the other sleds come with the new style ? I noticed Jimmy Blaze's Phazer had the newer style, maybe they'll add it before deliveries begin.
