New sleds

Phaser?? Inviter would have been more fitting!

Seriously, it will grow on me I'm sure and it will grow in hp eventually.

Some of you guys have your heads up your a$$!

80 horses will be fine in this sled!!!

My 90 650 Indy had 102 hp stock & was 550 LBS! [WAS FAST TOO!]

You have to see the sled & ride the sled before you should make any comments about it!!!

You guys sound just like the anti 4 stroke people the last few years!!!

COME ON, ITS A YAMAHA!!!!!!!!

BR

what a bunch of DUDS!!! you guys compare it to 1970's and 80's sled, people, its 2006, 120's will keep up to a 80hp sled!!!! bet you wouldnt ride your 650 for nothin anymore!

You've got to be joking!!!

My point was that its not a drag sled its a regular sled!!!

At 20 hp per 100 lbs lost, it should perform like my 650 or a 100 hp sled!!!

My 650 was 550 lbs & the new Phazer is 450 lbs, thats like picking up 20 horses!

It should perform like my 650 far as power & speed!!!

Also with all of Yamahas new tech stuff too!!!!!!

Its not designed to replace your Attak or Apex, its designed to replace your 440-500-550-600!!!

BR

Whether it has plenty of power or not, 80 just sounds low. The general public is gonna see 80 HP and laugh. Convincing them it is "light weight" after the RX1 Yamaha claims will be tough to do. Will it sell? Sure, but I doubt it'll convert any Doo, Poo, or Cat guys. They already have light weight bangers with a lot more power then that. JMO.

The hp comment I made is for the people who wanted more hp. I don't really care if it's 80 horse. My 1990 Indy 500 SKS was low 70's hp and it could kill (death) anyone. Believe me, it was fast. It wasn't snowmobile of the decade for nothing! BTW, it weighed 472lbs dry according to the specs.
Yamaha doesn't have an entry level sled or a sled you can really toss around...now they do.

I look forward to a aftermarket hopped up version on the snowcross track.

People have been asking who is going to buy this sled....look at this post!! More then half the guys are saying they want it as a second sled or for a wife/kid. THAT'S WHO!! lol.

It would seem that this sled was definetly needed or none of these big sled guys would be excited about it.

Some are acting like 80 hp is not enough. If a 80 hp sled runs the quarter mile in 16 seconds. A 160 hp sled is not going to do it in 8. Anyway in 1990 my phazer II was what? 53hp? And with a PSI pipe maybe 60ish. I saw 100 mph on the dream meter once or twice on a road side.

The Hp is not important what is important is the fun to be had and this looks like it will be a hoot to ride. Not built for speed but to do all your fun stuff with look at that suspension no wonder Johnny Blaze got a woody looking at it.

Methinks the ones complaining about the low hp and saying this is a "beginners" or "wife's" machine are mostly trail riders who just sit on their seats and run groomed trails and/or pin it across lakes all day long (and I am NOT saying that there's anything wrong with that if that's what you like.)

For myself, being an extremely active back-country boondocker, I promise you that am going to take one VERY serious look at this sled. I can't wait to see the other specs and see it in person.

If 450 lbs holds true, this thing looks to be an absolute dream for carving thru the pines......and digging it out when things get hairy.

I wonder if this 4 stroke motor is small enough to be pull started? Another huge benefit in my mind....and possibly part of the low weight formula. I am assuming this is a liquid motor for getting so much performance out of so little displacement....but could it possibly be air cooled?

I really want to know more....

A friend of mine just picked up his Freestyle Tundra last week. He wanted it for fishing. I had a look at it....well, it's better than the original Tundra. It sounds like a bored out chainsaw.

The new Yamaha reminds me of the same concept, but it is not even in the same universe. The more I look at it, the more I like it.

I really want the White one that appears to be a MTN verison...Perfect for beating around here.
I beat Yamaha wont be able to produce enough of them!

I am just disappointed cause I was expecting more from Yammi. I want to switch to a 4 stroke. Right now I've got a Firecat. I wanted something light enough to go hit the ditches hard but still have the horsepower I want. This thing is only about 15 pounds lighter than my F7 and has 60 less HP? Not gonna cut it for me. And I think for serious ditch riding an RTX would be too heavy. Nytro would work but it doesn't have EFI. Maybe I'm just too picky I don't know.
