2017 Sidewinder LTX-SE. 11750 miles (SOLD)
Your welcome anytime. That's what this site is about. I try to mention things that improved my ride and hope others realize not everyone is the same in weight and ride style, as why I have said it's a great upgrade on the SE and your over 200. I know the LE is a different shock and spring set up. That front track suspension shock is HUGE factor on this chassis IMOYes,i to hope it works Jon. Next summer when steve is working on doing up shocks for the next years season,i plan on removing all 4 shocks as they have 3000 plus on them, and see if he can revalve them to softer settings, all 3 settings,i would really like to run #3 but now it is so stiff only good for jumping roads, and at 63 I don't do road jumps lol and I will send him that new coil shock we have, and if he can mount it,and likes it,than I will run it and see. At any rate, thanks for showing me that spring Jon..

The ski springs are still a single spring they are simply a progressive rate single spring. Not sure of the center if they went to the Cat type progressive single or stayed with a true dual rate. Either way it's an effort to lower ride height by increasing the amount of sag which is in most cases a good thing.
Can you lower the stock SE front suspension on a 2017 without changing springs and/or having a negative impact on handling (ie changing the geometry too much)?
No. Have to either change springs, shorten shocks or suck limiter in. All will have an effect. Not saying it wouldn’t be worth it but trail chatter likely would be felt in the least. For me lowered sled would be worth a small sacrifice. But others may hate it.

Did we get any definite rear suspension changes aside from the springs yet? I’ve heard of diff front swing arm geometry but not confirmed. Front is basically a progressive rare spring it sits into. Center spring is already there and sounds like progressive rate torsion springs too.
Nothing for sure. Havent had time to compare part#'s. Even on the rear springs. It would be a big favor to me for someone to just compare the #'s.Did we get any definite rear suspension changes aside from the springs yet? I loved the ride of my sidewinder. Would love a touch better on handling. Only I’m using a 129 so if there was geometry changes I’m sol on trying to do this on my own lol.
Same here. 129 Been fighting sag since day one. Need more. But ride is great. So not a biggie. Other solution would be to gain about 75-80lbs!I loved the ride of my sidewinder. Ive spent two years trying to accomplish a softer spring for my LE...after exhaustive research by myself ...and country cat/cat themselves...I always felt it was over sprung for most south of 265 lbs...
I determined that the torsion spring we got is the optional light weight spring already...the softest cat had for that setup...I then pushed Travis at BOP to make a block that clocked the spring slightly less ala hygears modded torsion spring...and he did a great job making the idea come through...I nick named the idea Torsion Tamer lol...he and his clan have tested and claim it does what its supposed to...
that said...on the 2019' SRX...word is the dual rate springs front and softer torsion spring rear is essentially the difference and has totally transformed the machine...supposedly with sit in and sag ....if I still had my 19' Id be all over those springs..

So when cat changed to there version of a dual rate FTS and a different lighter sprung version of the rear torsion springs in there my 17 zr model line, did Yamaha do the identical thing.
