Spray, the spindles themselves haven't been the problem. It's the "steering knuckle" or casting that houses the spindle that is of suspect strength.
You know why Yamaha went to an aluminum upper A arm right? It's becuse ski impacts were causing the upper STEEL A arms to crack the aluminum bulkhead they are attached to. Now if the upper A arms are aluminum it's one more sacrificial (easily replacable) part between the spindle and the bulkhead. This is merely my own thoughts on this but I think it makes sense.
I support going to aluminum A arms and I may even change to them if the price is semi reasonable. The main issue is there is way too much unsupported area in the steering knuckle (between the ski mount and the lower A arm support) for the amount of momentum capable of being exerted on them by this rather portly sled. My 2 cents on the subject. Powder Blue

I just called Micro Belmont today, they have them in stock, apparently. 1-piece Billet Aluminum Spindle housing..ask for Gary i think...
They mount using all stock parts needed in the spindle(knuckle) assembly!
I should have mine at the anodizer by friday...I will weight them as well..to see if there is any weight savings v.s the OEM..and i'll post my findings

I recieved the housings today, what can i say, they are beautiful. Polished finish, clear coated...this makes anodizing a little more involved..i want to anodize them Ohlin's gold, but I'm concerned that stripping them will change the tolerences, for hardware, and gaskets...
These billet housings are 100 times stronger than OEM, but that comes with an increase in weight. they are probable twice as heavy as the stock spindle housing.
If the rest of the suspension arrives next week i'll post a picture of the stock comonents, beside thier Billet counterparts, and any weight savings
