Hello, figured I would post somewhere, sorry if there is an intro thread I am supposed to be posting in.

Been riding a 2006 apex for a few years and found a good deal on a 2009 nytro and figured this was a good place to start to figure the sled out, and snow is coming!

The sled is a 153 mtx produced in 2008, so should be a 2009 model year.

I am having a hard time figuring out the tech info that applies to the mtx vs the xtx, and how close they are or how interchangeable the info is.

From what can figure out it looks like it needs a front bulkhead, and add the grizz? Reinforcements.

What else should I look into? I want to make this a good sled for many years to come!

Any info or pointers would be much appreciated!

Thank you!

It’s very similar to a Nytro XTX. All off trail riding?

I wish it was all off trail riding. In reality it's a mix of on and off trail. I am still working on my skills, and this area of the world has good and bad snow days.

I have scratchers and that stuff figured out.

The sled has about 10k miles. Brand new track(1ride) otherwise pretty close to stock

I can pretty much tell you everything about a nytro as I owned one for 5 years and tore it apart and put back together more times then I can count (me adding goodies to it). The nytro is a very solid sled minus the bulkhead but I see you already covered that. A couple big improvements that you can make is the front end, running boards, and skid. The stock front geometry is not the greatest but there are a few different kits out there to solve that. Also the running boards suck IMO. They are weak and hold a lot of snow! The tube style boards are 100 times better. The skid can really be improved but its not cheap to do but it will work just fine if you don't want to mess it that. Now also with these sleds is they put off a lot of heat. A dash vent will really help get that heat out big time and they are pretty cheap. Also you'll want a metal skid plate especially if your of trail riding. The stock skid plate is a joke and wont stock a twig from going through it and hitting your oil filter and ruining you day. Mountain tech makes a great heavy duty skid plate that has saved countless members on this site. Those are some the big things with this sled can really help it otherwise the nytros are good machines.

Thank for the input! Sounds like a good short list.

I will have to find a picture of the stock running boards. These may already be aftermarket and they don't appear to be that strong but I don't see snow being an issue . I know I like the apex heat exchangers in the running boards makes the snow and ice melt!

Extra ventilation will be added, just will have to figure out where its easy and effective.

As for the skid, sounds like a good one needs to happen. I know my apex aftermarket skid was a great thing to have when you find that random hard object.

Then comes the hard part of waiting for snow to come! And then play with suspension and other adjustments.

You might have the inserts that kinda replace the stock running boards. If so they work pretty well. It sounds like your on the right path for a well rounded machine. These are fun sleds when set up right for you and your riding style. I feel ya on the waiting for snow part. I get pretty excited this time of year knowing that we could see snow any day now. They are actually saying we could see the first hard frost tomorrow where I live. Fall is here finally!

Congrats on the Nytro purchase! A solid platform that saw little change through it's 7 years of production. The good news is that the aftermarket has solutions for almost all of the sleds weak points. I have been on a Nytro for close to 10 years, and almost all the parts I offer are for the Nytro. Feel free to call me with any questions you might have.

Thanks!

I have been looking at some of your designs, need to ride the sled and see how it feels and then change some things up. Have already been looking at some of your arms. Will see how it feels, just need snow!

Has a white panel on fuel tank, and it came with a white and black hood. Then red accents.

This is where I get confused on sled year.
