New to owning a RX-1 (Oil change questions?)

I am new to owning a RX-1 and I am getting ready to change the engine oil, I have a few questions:

After I have drain the oil from the crankcase, oil tank and install a new oil filter the owners manual says to add 2.1 qts of oil to the oil tank, but then it states that the total oil capacity with a filter change is 3.2 qts.

Do I fill the tank with 2.1 qts and then the remaining amount goes in the engine/crankcase through the cylinder head cap?
I am a little confused by the owners manual, sorry I am just a newbie to owning a 4-stroke and Yamaha.

Any help/assistance would be appreciated.

Just add it all to the oil tank.. hope that helps...

easiest way put 900ml in the motor and say to L on the dip stick start it up let it run for a min shut it off and top it off

Here's what you do. After draining everything. Put 2 quarts in the oil tank, NONE in the crankcase! Fire the engine and when the low oil light comes on, shut it down and add the remaining quart +/-. Simple as that. DO NOT add all three at first and then fire it up. The dry sump system needs to suck the new oil through the system before you fill it to capacity.

Not according to my yamaha dealer

Not according to my yamaha dealer, He states that 2 quarts should go into the oil tank and then a 3rd right into the motor. He also states 3qts is the amount he puts in all of them and the oil level is spot on. Less chance of getting air into the system. He has an RX-1 motor on the bench right now where the customer changed the oil and dumped all 3 quarts in to the tank and air got into the system and the motor is cooked.....

Like I said, don't dump all 3 quarts in the oil tank first. 2 in the tank, fire it. Then dump remaining quart +/- in the tank which is now low since the dry sump has circulated the new oil. Read the manual, it's pretty specific as to the instructions.

Thats how I do mine!

I put two quarts in the tank and let it warm up and then add the remaining quart until it's full on the dipstick. I put all the oil in through the tank and not the engine. It's a dry sump system, air in the system will stay at the top of the tank.

The following link is a page right out of the service manual CD, it states to put the oil in the tank. 2 quarts first and then warm it up and add the rest.

You can put 2 in and a little pressure to the tank by taking off the small nipple and blowing into the tank until oil comes out the hose..or you hear it gurgle. Then ad the last quart.

This will remove air pockets and what I do everytime.
