Just wanted to pop in and say hey. I have mainly been over in the RX section but decided in Feb to part my 05 RX-1 out. It had 6800ish miles and a cracked W arm ripped out RA cable (again) and the exhaust y pipes were all broke...so I looked at it and said "bye bye" (plus I knew I wanted an Apex)
No decent offers on it even if I were to put the money back into it to get it trail worthy again...so I decided to part it out and see how it went.
Well it went pretty well so I bought a new Apex because my dealer dropped the GT down to $7500. $8045 out the door! That's a fantastic price (I think anyhow) and so here I am with a brand new 2007 GT. Broke it in this last week on a fast day and a half trip. 530 miles and she really runs fantastic. I saw 124 on the dream meter on very hardpack fast trails. I'm excited to dial it in next season for handling and look into any decent mods. Any sugestions? Anyone know if a Simmoms 5 degree helix that I was running on the RX will do anything for the Apex? Clutching seems better on the Apex than the RX was, but I think I may have lost a few MPH top end. This Apex is faster top end but I think my RX may have been quicker mid range.
Already bought a set of 06 bars. I noticed how bad the handwarmers are. Seemed like at first ride...they got piping hot so I thought I must not have whatever problem some were having, but then they never got hot again. Dundeedude went with me with his brand new ER to break it in as well and he said the same thing. Hot once..then nothing after that. And it was in the low 30's during the day and they still were luke warm at best.
Thats pretty disappointing coming off many HOT gripped yami's in the past.
I can't believe how much better the GT rides that my RX. Man it's plush! I love the clicker shocks up front. Man they really work nice! And the adjustable Olins. I hope the wiring holds up better than the RA cable did on my RX! Went thru 3 of those!
Any other pointers or things I need to look out for? Still trying to read up on the Apex and what you guys are running into for issues. I do a good amount of miles. (around 4K this last season) so I want to know as much as possible about the sled before next season.
Thanks!!!!
