I picked up a leftover 2012 vector ltx. I just hit about 700 miles. I have done two oil changes already. First at 27 miles by myself, and the second at the dealer at 200. I just put 500 hard miles on it up in the U.P. last week. Got it home, let it thaw in the garage and I just noticed a small puddle of oil on the floor. Jumped underneath and pulled off the cover figuring it was coming from filter or the plug, but it wasn't. Both dry and no signs of dripping. Checked the top plug and the oil reservoir and both are tight as well. Any idea where else its coming from?

Where is your oil level in the tank now? If it's FULL I'd bet when it was done at the 200 mile mark it was overfilled and oil puked into the airbox then flowed out the bottom. Have you checked the inside of the airbox?

Tank dipstick is dead center. I'm almost positive I looked in the air box and didnt see any oil, but i will check again.

Not many places for that much oil to come from. If it was a major leak, you would have lost oil fast on the trip.

Oh wait - I remember something about a check valve in the breather in the airbox getting stuck open?

Somebody else chime in on this?

if your oil level is fine and you dont have any warning lights on then they most definitely overfilled it, Or they spilled oil in the bellypan and it was just hanging out in there. Not much else if the level is where it should be..

When you check the oil level warm the engine first then check the level without screwing the stick in. If it's even a little overfilled it will push out the air box. Chain case lube ok?

Oh yea, Right into the airbox! All cleaned up and ready for the trails. Changed the chaincase lube at 200 miles, good to go the rest of the year.

Allright! Good to hear you found the source. Time to RIDE ON now!
