First time on forum and first time Yamaha owner. I used to run Cat's (ZL500, ZR700) - I thought I would try 4-stroke. Just bought an 05 RX Warrior Ltd. with ECP kit from dealer. Sled is in mint condition with 5,000 miles, new track, 192 studs, blah, blah. Paid $6,100 CDN. Am I going to be impressed?? How fast? Overall performance? I have already heard from the sales guy at the dealer - I am interested in what you have to say...

i own a 04 and absolutely love it.got 10000 miles on it without a glitch.you'll love it out on the lakes.that motor can take full throttle runs one after the other and you dont even worry about melting a piston.its not the fastest sled out there but its enough for almost any rider.mine is stock and had it radared at 106mph.good enough for me.good luck with your new sled.

Thanks for the response - I am really looking forward to this season. I thought that it may have a bit more top end. Last year my buddy was running an 04 Cat 660 Turbo (this year, a new Apex) and he was coming close to low 100 mph's. I was expecting something a little closer to 110 mph + from the 05 Warrior???
Regardless, I own it now so I might as well grip it n' rip it...

BTW - I've GPS'd my sled at 117mph on the lake, totally stock with my fat A$$ on it, in near perfect conditions.

Now that's more like it! Any experiences running with/against bigger bore 2-strokes - Thundercat, MXZ 1000??

You're not going to keep up. The warrior runs more like an 800 than 1000. But, you may beat them with the longer track if traction is an issue and you're well studded.

Thanks - every sled's different I guess. Some guys will tell you that the Warrior will do 190 + km's all day (in fact I have a buddy with a stock 03 RX1 with that claim) and no problem challenging a stock T-Cat? My friend just bought a new 2007 Apex ER - I am looking forward to running him.

Nice trails & lots of snow in your neck of the woods. A buddy of mine live near the hospital just off the highway....We sometimes ride from Peterborough right to his door. Maybe see you on the trail some day.
