Ok, Picked up a 06 vector GT and have already taken care of all of the know issues exept one and made some upgrades to it (thanks Jim) . This thing still has the stock carbides up front and I want to swap them out, I'm looking for some input as to what direction I should look. It's a 121" with 96 picks. I haven't ridden it yet so I don't know if it has a darting issue but I don't want to put so much carbide on it that I have to fight it through the corners.

Stock ski's??

If so, from what I have read, go with some snowtrackers.

Lots of good reading in the ski section below.

Hey, Jim's brother! I'd start with 6" Studboy Deuce bars. I installed them on my Vector and it handles great with little to no darting. I also have them on my OEM Nytro skis and believe they work better than the Skidoo Pilots. I'm trying out a set of Kimpex Arrows on my Nytro this season and if they don't perform I'm going back to the stock skis and deuce bars.

The only thing I'd recomend doing if you go with the Stud Boy Deuce bars is rounding the front of the bar with a grinder. The front edge 90's up into the ski and tends to catch on trailers, railroads, concrete pads..... I used a 4" grinder to taper it just enough to prevent it from catching.

Do what your brother did, & get some 6 or 8" Accord Racing duallys.

The stock skis & single runner carbides don't mix. You'll be fighting it through the corners as it stands now, not after adding new carbides.

I run 8" duallys on the Vector & 10" duallys on the Apex.

Everytime someone trys to tell me that anything over 6" creates to much slow speed turning resistance, I tell them to talk to my 5'1" 110 lb wife & ask her if she is fatigued after 125+ mile rides on the Vector. (here's a hint to her answer each time, it rhymes with "no") ;)!

Irv, yes it still has the stock skis on it. Grizz & Catman TNX for all of the help you guys have been giving us. All of the projects are right on track. I was thinking of the 6" daullys then saw some things on the shaper bars and kinda got lost. Any of you guys try the shapers?

Stud Boy makes the shaper and deuce bars. Their Deuce bars are made similar to the single shaper, it's just a wider bar with two rows of carbides. Don't go with a single bar setup on the stock skis. Spend the few extra dollars on a dual setup and you'll be impressed.

^ X1,000,000 Get a dually setup of some sort. :bling

Shop around, the Accord Racing (which is formerly Saber Traction) is your best price. Everyone else charges per runner, Accord is per pair.

Shaper or Deuce bars. I have used both and both are great. You will like either one as well as the other. I use the 6" and have 96 studs up the middle. O5 RS Vector ER.

I echo the recommendations on the Deuce bars for the stock skis. The 6 inch ones will match up well with the studded track. Also the Deuce bars wear really well. I had them on my 05 Vector for a year before getting new skis, passed the bars onto my brother's Venture and he's used them for 3 seasons now. I'll have to see what shape they are in when I see him next.

I've run 6" Woodys Doolies on my 05 Vector with 144 studs. Doolies or Duece Bars will solve the darting problem.

Check the Bergstrom Skegs website he has a lot of good Information and you can form your own decision .

I have ran the stud boy deuce bars (6") for 2 seasons on my 06 nytro w/ stock skis. I have experienced 0 darting but I can't ride all that aggressive because they are unpredictable in the turns. I can't speak for them yet, but I have a set of 8" bergstrom triple points bolted on for this year. Good luck w/ whatever you decide.

Didn't mean to open up a can of worms unless we were goin' fishing. Just looking for a good starting point. If they don't work for me then I'll chalk it up to a learning curve. :hide:
