Next Years (2007) RS series

It would be nice to have a 4 stroke for the begginers with around 100-110 hp and cost around $6000. Hopefully its nothing thats going to make me regret ordering an 06.

i dont think u'll see a beginner 4 stroke-especially for 6000. i also dont think we'll see a factory turbo for 07-it will only jack the price up of the sled-and thats not what ppl want. i sure hope they do decide to make a 120hp model into the db2 chassis. all models should have the radiator for next year-except for a couple basic models-i hope for a more of a boondocking sled-likea 144 or somethin like that-kinda like the renegade with a 1.75" track

I've found for boondocking that bigger is better when it comes to track length. The longer length allows you to go slower and pick your lines better. Back in the day with shorter tracks we just bounced off of trees like a pinball trying to keep our speed up.

The factory Yami guys were NOT very discreet about letting the factory turbo out of the bag at Apex debut in Albany, NY last winter. Things can change, but they said turbo for 07'. The big hurdle was the insurance companies.... 180+hp numbers were being thrown about, too. 8)

I hope they finally will make a 4-stroke ditchbanger! That would be sweet. And also make a longer version of it (136")! I certainly hope they finally can get the dry weight under 500lbs... ;)!

rsv, isnt that what the RTX and Nytro are supposed to be???

No, I was thinking of the rumor of the two cyl. 800. That should make it that little bit lighter, and if they put it in a lighter chassis, that would be the ticket!

I hope they one day find another way to route the exhaust. I'm not a big fan of sitting on top of it, and it really screws up the chance of a decent luggage-rack (thinking of the Venture). Maybe it's just me who's weird in what I look for in a sled... LOL! ;)!

Just a few month's now, and we will know for sure! Time flies!!!

800 twin, eh? Hmmm, interesting. Im not sure if I can see Yamaha going with a big twin like that. They are kind of know for making smooth-running engines and Im not sure that you could make an 800 twin that would be all that smooth (compared to a triple or a 4-banger).
Interesting possibility though...
As for the exhaust, I LOVE IT. There is something about that rearward-facing dual exhaust that has such a awsome look to it.

To each their own... I for one, WOULD look at a 800 twin. Two moto-cross engines put together... Torque-monster! I like the grunt of the fewer cylinder engines (and less weight). :D

I’m willing to bet we’ll never see a factory turbo from yamaha.
-For one, they don’t need a turbo to beat the competition since they can easily get 180hp without one.
-Second, how would they warranty a turbo when 90% of us would put the screw driver to it before it even hits the snow.
-Third, a turbo muscle sled would turn out to be the sled we all want, but will never get because of insurance, cost.. etc....I can see many issues if we start having 200+ OEM sleds.
IMO an OEM turbo is just a way of cheating to get hp. I’m sure polaris and AC wouldn’t have turbos if they were capable of building a 4-stroke without one and have decent hp.

I think where yamaha needs to focus on is to cater to the entry level sleds and have a lineup where kids can grow up brand loyal just like many of us owned Bravos, Enticers, phazers etc...Yamaha will miss the boat to skidoo and AC if they don’t do something there. Selling an entry level machine can sometimes be an investment for the future....hint hint :D

good point Dano, my family has mostly yamaha but when a couple members of the family who are not as experienced dont have an entry level option. I can only imagine how many fan cooled REVs skidoo is selling, I rarely see one on the showroom floor. It would be nice to have a low cost sled for the buyer who doesnt put thousands of miles on every year.
