next problem cold hands, i installed 06 apex bars on my rx1 like the feel and look however the hand warmers don't work for crap. i wired them into the rx1 wires thinking all would be good. it seems i was wrong, the local dealer claims the apex warmers are controled by the computer?? anythoughts on how to adapt the warmers to the rx1?

another option i thought of was to remove the rx1 grips and install them on the apex bars. this also seemed a little more complex then i thought it should be, any tips on removing grips in one piece?

last option, any suggestion for aftermarket warmer??

I think you will need to run a positive and a negitive to both sides not in a circle like stock. Mine work ok in a circle, but I am going to try the other way soon. Maxdlx

If you have the stock '06 APEX bar hooks in there; remove them and then try it. If I remember correctly those hooks have an alluminum wedge to keep them tight. This wedge robs the heat from the grips just like my alluminum Fly Aerotaper bars do.

I still believe this is the actual culprit on the APEX bars and that there is no need for the update they did to the '07s other than using BJ hookers for their bar hook supplier rather than changing to the longer heated grips that cover the hooks.

If removing the stock hooks works; I have a set of short BJ Hookers bar hooks (red in color) I bought but they don't fit my bars. They use a different set up to keep the wedge from robbing het from your grips. I had the longer hooks on my stock bars and never had cold hands. I'll bring the hooks along with the Sportech handgaurd brackets to Cooke City next weekend.

If you have the 06 bars just rewire them from series to parallel. It doesn't matter if you have a RX-1.

i do have them wired in a circle and will attempt wiring them directly. plus pulling out the stock bar ends.

as far as series vs. parallel is the stock apex wire series or parallel? i installed them by cutting the exist apex wiring ends and wired them directly into the rx.

thanks for all the good info.

If I understand correctly, the Apex warmers are wired in parallel in order to work properly, the RX-1 bars are wired in series to work properly.... so if you wire the Apex warmers in parallel to your existing RX-1 power source, they should perform fine.

I am planning to put Apex bars on my RX-1 in the future as well, so I am interested in seeing how this works out for you. If your warmers start to work well, please post pics or at least a "how-to" for those who come behind you, i.e. me!
