Could be frozen, OR you may need to greese the 'roller' just inside the cowling.....I use white lithium and it seems to keep it from sticking...if that's not it, i'd be having a look-see inside the chain case...good luck.

Both of the above tips may help. However, you did not say if the sled was warmed up or cold when it did not shift. If it was warm, it probably was not ice in the gearcase nor the handle roller. On my 04 Rx, the linkage was loose and the adjustment of it is very critical. You have to be dead on with the specified measurements. Then make sure the nuts are tight. Since the first adjustment, I have not had any problems.

That happens to me on my sled. It was alredy said too, just move your sled a bit more forward, just enough to move the sled a few cms.
This is most likely what is causing the problem, it surprised me when I first got it.

Open the hood and look at the handle. You will see that the "slide" consists of two things; the roller in the groove, and the shaft in the tube.
The shaft in the tube allows the arm to extend in length. This part is frozen full of ice. Dump some gasline antifreeze on it to remove the ice, then lube it up with oil or grease to prevent it from freezing again.
