Awhile back I read a post about a sled that the starter would not enguage.
Well it happened to me once this weekend. Pushed and pulled kill switch four or five times nothing, turned key on and off nothing, checked battery , cabels, grounds still would not turn over. Reached down and tapped starter relay and started right up and hasn't happened since. Now have test light on sled to trace it out to make sure it was relay. Hope this helps if it happens to anyone else.

Same thing happened to me ,but it turned out to be the liteweight batt. What kind of battery are you running?I was running some sort of back up power battery. The plates inside got loose the first time and almost stranded me,Then it started working a few times then finally quit al together.I put in a small yuassa out of my wifes xt 225 yamaha bike and it works great! Its a dirt bike battery so its made for taking the bumps (my theory, for what its worth)Cranks over faster to.

Sure its not the battery it had 12 volts at the positive lead on starter. Was holding key over to crank when I reached down by relay and it started. Just want to make sure its not something else in the wiring before replacing relay.

Don't know much about batteries, but is it possible to have a reading of 12 volts on a battery & have low amps?
When I had my starter problems I also had 12+volts but the mechanic said the amps were low???Starter/selenoid/relay& battery all replaced.[on warranty]

Yes its posible but I had 12 volts at b+ and no voltage going to solinoid wire until what I'm prety sure that I bumped the relay. Just wanted to sare my experiance with you in case it happens and you need an idea to get it going.

These are such great machines-so much fun to ride___ BUT!!!
When the key won't start,or it dies while riding---it sure would be nice to have that little length of rope to pull to see if it would at least cough or something.

Would you say that if you had left your stock battery (the one the Yami engineers selected) in the sled, you probably would have not had the failure?
