this weekend i was in quebec in st donat and while riding the lake inoticed that (while i did blow every one in my group away) i only topped out at 106 and also had an F7 fly by me. i was on my 06 apex gt. i need to get this sled to at least 115 . all is stock excpet my powermadd hanguards which do help by the way( excpect on extremely cold nights)

my buddys f7 is faster on hard pack but it will take him a mile to catch me the only way to stay a head is doing the ramair to the airbox ive done the dalton cluching and 1 inch track f7 with chaincases our fast diamonddrives arent quik

Im guessing your conditions were not perfect.. Ive seen 115 on the dreammeter on snow,,, while some have seen 130+

These sleds will run 115 REAL MPH on Glare ice in box stock form (about 130 on the dreammeter)

These sleds are overgeared .. Move down to a 23T top gear and use a white secondary spring from a ATTAK set at 3+3

The 03 F7s with the chaincase were very fast with the 1 inch tracks.. expecially on top end.. Your sled is over 100lbs heavier and has a taller track which is slowing the top end down..

Two weeks ago in the U.P. i raced a 03 F7 and a 05 ZR900.. With a badly worn belt i lost to both sleds my a slight margin... But after i installed new belt i was easly passing them in the midrange from about 40-60mph and stayed about 2-3 lengths ahead at top speed! Whole shot is everything.. Make sure you have enough studs and good weight transfer! Also make sure you have a good belt on the sled!

These sleds will run with anything on the trail if set up correctly..

don't believe that ram air or any clutch kit is going to give you 115 radar on groomed trail. all these little mods might give you an extra length or two.

POWER VALVE is right..

You will probobly never see 115 radar on a groomed trail,(and your buddies wont either) but you might get another 2-4MPH out of it. and 2-5 lengths in a 1/4mile.

F7s for me are slow.....you guys must realize you need to tweak many areas of these apexs to make them stronger...

I post here all the time, and I have just about every tweak in my signature...some members have used these mods and some work well, some dont make much difference...the key to know is you do EVERYTHING you can to help the cause...be it little or big....the more little things you do make for one big thing...

check the sig...

things like 1 inch predator and MY homeaid raimair were the 2 biggest things i did....

next would be my dalton clutching setup and 23 gear....

ive run 120+ on the gun and only 1 mach has gotten by me so far(not stock)...other machs are either slower or same as me...

you dont need to spend alot, just alot of little things add up.

Not to muddy the waters but I have a ram air lid and frankly I do not see a performance advantage with it. It adds a lot of noise and in side by side comparison's does not prove to be ANY faster. I am talking back to back testing running against another Apex up to top speed. No advantage for me and my GT when I put the ram air lid on.

Just wondering how you tested it?....you are simply running two sleds against eachother?

when i tested mine...we did it with a radar gun,the gun doesnt lie...

I ran my sled several times, that day hitting 113.8,114.6 and 114.1....another RTX(STOCK LID) was running 110 to 111 range.....

We then SWAPPED lids..and instantly my sled would only run 111 range while his sled went into 113 range...all done on same track within minutes of eachother....

then switched back and I was back into 114 range...

this was my proof...I had never seen one simple mod make this much difference from one sled to the next....IMO this MOD is the single biggest thing anyone can do for lake running.period.

Ask TIm at FIX powersports,or Allen Ulmer...or anyone else who is a apex guru.....they all KNOW the airbox mod works...and its simply because the APEX is rich,...adding the air and ramming it in at 100+mph makes PONYS!

MACHED... Are talking ON SNOW... or on ICE??

I could see it making the topspeed faster on ice.. But probobly not noticable on snow..

This is the best way to test "in a controlled environment"

there are to many factors like traction and changin snow condtions that can give you false results.

When I test I used plowed ice and a speed track. Perfect track and no snow to muddy up the results.
