I very new to this so bear with me. I wanted to adjust the spring tension down and try a couple of runs with it but after pulling the nuts off I didn't find any numbers on the secondary (just the outer cover 0,3,6,9). Put it back together leaving the spring in the same position on the secondary and moved the helix cover to 3. I wanted to try a 3-3 (60%) set-up. I didn't get to run it other then on the stand to make sure I had everything back together right and it seemed fine. I have an Ulmer Stage 2 on the way but wanted to try this before it arrived. It was stock before this adjustment. Does this sound correct?

Look at this picture, above the hole that you put the secondary spring is the number ( 1,2 or 3 ) here you can see a 3.
Also make sure you mark your sheave, you can mix it in 3 different position and you don't want that because it's balance the way they put it together.

It seems in the last season or two the Yamaha casting numbers in the secondary itself have gotten shallower and shallower to the point of barely being able to see it on some. You may have to look closely.

Agree I can't hardly tell the diff between the #1 and #2 on mine its just a freakin mark. #3 is visable though.

Look the picture number 1 and you will see half drill hole on the side off the sheave this is made to balance the secondary , and have same thing to the other sheave on the other side but not at the same place.Mix those sheave and you will have vibration.

So are you saying those holes are supposed to line up? I just marked mine with a marker....

Are we sure the sheave halfs aren't balanced individually?? I would think if they don't mark them with line up points, they are EACH balanced as a separate unit and it wouldn't matter how they were reassembled.

you did it right, mark everything before dissasemble the secondary
