Well here a few teaser pics of the sled that I also posted on snowest. It turned out better than I hoped. The NW mid mount turbo is awesome. Trail tank, concealed intake, and under tunnel exhuast made it the choice for me. Super easy install and Travis the owner is first rate. The customer service is unmatched. He sat on the phone with me all day Saturday while I installed it to make sure everything went exactly perfect.

Sort of a combo of Crow's tunnel closure and seat bracket mods, errol's under tunnel exhaust and LED lights, and Moto's better board modifications. I think I captured all the best mods I have seen. Let me know what you think.

Looks good :-o

I would pull that air filter out in fresh air if you intend to have fun in the powder. It will suck heat and moist air in that location ;)!

Keep us updated on how the cast header holds up. Saw the pics on snowest - looks real good.

I still wonder if the headers would fit (clear the jack shaft) on the old Vector mountain. Perfect header for a custom turbo kit on the old Vector mountain.

looks good. did a good job on making the sled YOURS! what is that slip on exhaust off from? ski

The exhaust is a Yoshimura RS-5 carbon wrap. Got it cheap off a Honda CBR600. Had the exhaust cut and welded to center it under the tunnel. The trail tank was specially made for this kit. The turbo cut out drops capacity to 8.5 to 9 gallons from the original just over 10. Will post more pics later.

Most any of them will fit SDB. You have to custom build yer exhaust anyway.

My 2 brothers muffler was from an 05-06 cbr 600. Generally, the can for a cbr 1000 is the exact same can, they mark them differently due to a different mid-pipe configuration between the 2 bikes. Either will work, you just have to do custom work on the pipe.

You are not worried about snow building up and clogging your exhaust under the tunnel like that?

Are all the RS-5 exhaust pipes the same? I want to purchase on off E-Bay just not sure which ones work and which ones don't. Are all the can's the same between the different models just the mid pipe's are difference between them all?

the further back the can is the less likely snow can get into the can. i am running and under tunnel now, and what i noticed is there would be zero snow possible to get in the can if the mid pipe was extended to get out of the paddle ejection area. i havent had any issues where it sits currently but further issue could be avoided for sure.

are you guys just buying the slip ons? no mid pipe?ski

I purchased one with the midpipe, but it is super curvy and would never fit under the tunnel as is. I had the middle of the midpipe cut off and welded back the flange to slip over the downpipe of the turbo. Expect to have the exhaust welded in what ever configuration you decide.

If you are running thru the stock header the midpipe can be cut down pretty short since the header goes up and into the tunnel hole. Expect to also cut the header to prevent it from going up thru the tunnel hole. Some guys have reported turning the header up side down to avoid ruining that piece, but I can't comment on that.

I am not really worried about clogging the exhaust. First the pressure is pretty high and if I am running in the deep stuff I usually have it pinched. Second the exhaust outlet is past the down bend in the track so no snow is directly being thrown at the outlet. I will test it next week to know for sure.

more pics

Here are a few more pics. I also attached a pic of what has been removed. I have read that just the turbo install had a net loss of 13 lbs. Much more with the under tunnel exhaust and tunnel mods.

Tested the motor with a load in our crappy snow and the exhaust sounds awesome. I have the quiet insert in the Yoshi, but the sound is stock Db levels with a much deeper bass growl. No louder maybe a touch quieter than stock with the turbo muting some of the sound.

Overall very happy, but we'll see in super deep snow if it bogs any.
