Best riding conditions we've had in years around Marathon area. Looking to set some dates. Do we want to do a Wednesday-Saturday or Thursday-Sunday? What would be better for the majority, weekend of 2/21 or 2/28?
For planning purposes this is what is available in lodging. The Three Bear Inn is right here in town on the trail. Number is 607-849-3258 or 1-800-943-3131. Restaurant is next to it serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Room rates are $36.80/1 person/1 bed. $40.20/2 people/1 bed. $45.86/2 people/2beds. These prices include the tax. The Point Motel in Whitney Point is closed(for sale). There are numerous motels in Cortland, about 15 minutes north on I-81. I can get info if anyone is interested in staying there. Greek Peak ski area has rental cabins next to Gatherings restaurant near Virgil, about six miles drive by car from Marathon. Snowmobile trail goes right past them. They have a bathroom/shower and either two queen beds or a queen and bunk bed. Hold on to your hats boys, $186.00 a night.

Airmech, Viperman and I rode 143 miles today. Stopped along the trail in Chenango county and enjoyed the snowmobile club's hot dog and chili sleigh. Looks like the good riding will continue into the foreseeable future. Let's get some dates picked so we can all make plans to take time off from work.

I can ride both days on the 21st- just can't stay up saturday night. No biggie- thinks its only 2 hour drive.

You know I am up for riding Dave. Only weekends for me though for the rest of the winter, as I have already taken alot of days off this winter.
I have to see what happens though. Some LOW-LIFE no good thief decided it was a good idea to steal my trailer this weekend from the Waters Edge in Old Forge. So I am not quite sure about the rest of the season. Keep an eye out for it, anyone else in NY/NJ looking at the post.
Looks identical to this, except I have a spare tire mounted on the front right rail. NY plate # AR90831.

any stickers or graphics on the trailer? Heading up to OF in a couple of days- i'll keep an eye out.
I can probably make it Wed, thurs, and Fri. either week. Hope the snow stays put. Could be in the 40's by this weekend with some rain possible. Trails were excellent in the Calabogie area last week while I was in Canada.

Trailer is as you see it in the pic. All black, all smooth skin (top and sides) with the words "STORM" written in small yellow letters on both sides and back. The frame of the trailer had the word "BLIZZARD" written on either side in blue letters. Also I had a spare tire mounted to the frame up front on the right side.
I appreciate you (and everyone else) keeping an eye out NJNYTRO

Guys, I am going to try and make it for the Friday part of the ride this time.
Marathon is close enough for me to come down for the day now and I've been getting alot more seat time, so I think I can handle it.
If you lose too much snow to have it though, will it be rescheduled for somewhere farther north?

I'd like to schedule the ride for Thursday 2/26/09 to Sunday 3/1/09. I'm hoping more riders may get involved if it includes two weekend days. Some will only be a few hours drive away at most so getting home Sunday won't be too late in the evening. Next week it is supposed to be near 50! Hopefully after the brief warm up it will return to winter with some good snowfall. If the ride can't happen around here I have no problem moving it north someplace.

The beginning of the week I got approval to take time off for this ride. Today I got a jury duty notice , 1-2 weeks starting 2/26! Going to try and get a six month postponement on the duty. Trails around here are down to dirt. Any big snow in the forecast the next few weeks Gordon??
Does not look like alot of snow for the next 10 days. Possible some snow next Thursday, but I wouldn't count on it. Looks like a possible snowy stretch starting about Feb. 22. I came up Rt. 81 on Monday. There was more snow down near Lancaster PA then there was In the Binghamton area.

Gordon, Any report on where the best riding right now is? I can't believe how bad we got hammered with the rain and warmup. ![Banghead :o| :o|](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/banghead.gif)
