whats this plastic sleeve trick?

Pull the white plastic sleeve out before you fill up and you can put 2 more liters in the tank...I've never tried it but heard it works.

true..but it ends up draining out the vent...well alot of it. Tried it, only to come back with a huge puddle of gas underneath

Hmm i use the plastic sleeve trick every time and never have had gas come out, must be a difference in vent tube routing.

When I installed my Trail tank I rerouted my vent tube up the steering post and back down to the stock location. Have not had any issues since.

Do you do alot of off trail riding? I have never tried the sleeve trick but was going to next weekend when I go away....but if it's going to leak gas then I won't...but I do zero off trail...jut wondering if that may be the cause.

I think you'd only have to worry about it leaking if it was sitting, and was expanding due to the weather getting warmer.

By the way, I don't know of any sled out there that will go 400km without needing to bring a few extra gas cans.

Neither do I, but I know of several that will go 300+, and many more that are much easier to carry extra gas on. The Nytro is not exactly Backcountry friendly, Perhaps as part of their 2013 "special intro" they should have an undertunnel exhaust.

We were in northern Ontario running from Hearst to Hornpayne and then back. we drove conservatively there as we were not sure of everyone range, and then aggressively back. I have the trailtank on and based on the milage that day, with conservative riding I could get 265km and aggressively 200km.

I don't know how you're doing it. I filled up again today, 85km and almost 17lts of gas, riding fairly conservatively with just a small amount of off trail riding. That right there means that I've got about 160km safe working range with the trail tank, with a very small buffer.

Scary stuff.

Pick a speed and and just cruise. No flipping the flipper, and no running off the groomed trail.

I also have the weight factor on my side as I weigh in at 185lbs with equipment. we didn't have our saddle bags on that day either.

Been there done that. I ride that stretch hard and use about 32 liters. I would of been out of gas if it weren't for my trail tank. ;)!

Dan

I used 30.6l coming back that afternoon.

I thought the Nytro gave incredible mileage i ride with 3 nytro xtx owners and was one myself and yes they have the bigger tank .. Switched to an 800etec and i am consistantly 10 dollars on the conservative side or more ..less per tank filling with supreme .

I'm extremely impressed with the fuel mileage on the Nytro. I haven't really calculated my MPG in depth, but yesterday I rode with 2 1200 Doos and 2 1100 Cats. I ride much harder than any of them and I only took 5.4 gallons compared to 6.2-6.4 from the Doos and Cats. I was shocked...I was expecting to be nearly the same or even worse than the 1200's. Even with the better MPG, I'm still easily the first one looking for the gas station though. :o| But it's nice to save a little $$$. ;)!
