hi yall new to Yamaha sleds. I acquired a 2009 nitro. my problem is the hand warmers get way too hot, to the point of the grips are almost melting. the controller displays correctly on the dash but doesn't control the temperature. where should I start looking

Maybe it has Yamaheaters on it. They go to max heat which is crazy hot on the hands when the Yamaha hand warmers are in the off position.

Is there a small light build mounted somewhere on the dash. If yes - then you have yamaheaters.

I don't think the nytro's grips ever created that kind of heat without yamaheaters.

thanks for the replies, there is a little led light on the dashboard just below the key. just had the sled out for a sixty mile romp. had to stop every few miles to cool bars enough to keep riding. looks like I start searching for yamaheater box. I ride with handlebar bags on my sleds anyway, so which connectors do I unplug to stop bar power?

If you have yamaheaters the lowest setting on the hand warmers turns them ON to the highest heat amount. The little light turns red.

Toggle the heat bars up on the scale on the dash and the light will go green.

Yamaheaters enhance all heating levels. When the light is red the bars get insanely hot

If you knew all this, sorry for the long message.

thanks for the help, this is my first yam sled, obviously not new anymore but runs good, power is good too, can maybe see a spring order for new one this year,i'll see what the light does, wasn't aware how it operated, I figured off was off lol
