Hello.
Im about to buy a new sled, and wonder how a 162" is on the trails, i ride mostly on trails, but want to have a real powder/mountain machine aswell. I know the xtx exists but if the MTX can go for long trips on trails without burning hyfax/other stuff i might try it.
So how is the mtx on trails, is it a pain to ride it? Can it manage day trips up to (150-200km) without problems?
Also, have they fixed the rattling from the clutch from previous years(both mtx & xtx?

IMO, don't get a mtn sled if your priority is trails.
The crossover is prob your best bet if your 1st priority is trail riding.

By using ice scratchers and additional idler wheels, you can for sure stop it from overheating and burning hyfax. But that is just for transporting it down a trail. Not for any kind of performance riding on the trail. Push it down a trail and you will immediately notice about questionable corner performance and not too good bump absorption and eventually about some serious skid durability problems. Like said above, for trail riding the XTX is a much better option. Based on your own description, you should take a closer look at the XTX, possibly with a 1.75" track to improve occasional off trail trips.

I agree. The XTX will be the best choice. Get a 1''3/4 track and handle bar riser.
