With Excell setup I beat several xp 800's last winter in 1/4. Raced a lot. However also got beat by plenty of XP's too. A lot goes into setup.

The XP has got something like 20 horsepower more and fourty kilograms less. If the guy on the XP is not a complete idiot when it comes to clutch setup, he will beat you. In any distance. The Nytro is classified as a 600 for a reason...

I ride with all XP 800X's and those sleds are quick. My studded RTX could hang till about 80 on a holeshot but after that the XP just walked by. I already ordered the gear and chain and will do an air box mod. I just want the RTX to pull 110mph and ill be happy

Just different ideas for the airbox cover. It just seems very restrictive

I had a chance to use a brand new nytro last spring No studs just bone stock 700 miles on it. The snow was nice and wet on the lake that made for awsome traction we pretty much had a nice smooth mile marked off and the snow was wet so a little hump of snow just went poof when you hit it
I raced just about evey sled made last year. I pretty much started with a full tank of fuel and buy the time I ran all the sleds at least 3 times they gave up and I had an empty tank.
The 800 Poo 07xrs and 08rs were pretty close. Hear is how it went down. Nytro hole shoted and had about 1.5 sled length lead till 104mph and that is where I let off. I then gave the Poo's a 1.5 lead and caught them instantly and it was a dead heat till 104.
The only sled to burn me 3 times was a Moded out 900 fusion this guy had big $$ in it. I draged 600's 700's 800's and each and every time that nytro just jumped out of the hole. Now if the torque of the nytro was not there this would not have been a factor Because the snow was "wet" and the 4 stroke was able to not "bog" vs 2 smokes "lag" in load situations. maybe this day would have paned out Diff. I dont think so but some Poo ride will now say the guy on the poo was lazy, HAHA I killed that right away we switched sleds seveal times.
To me this is one of the many benies when buying a Yamaha Nytro.

I guess mine must be a fast one? Raced a well set up 800 XP with my stock fx nytro (96) pics in each sled. The temps were 5 degs on hard flat groomed trails (fast) we lined them up and off the start both sleds picked up the skis and touched each other. A little hairy, but neither one of us let off we went approx 3 - 4 miles and neither sled could pull one another. He won the race by aprox 1 ft from his ski to my ski. I have read 112 mph on my speedo a few times and see 108 regularly on hard pack. A lot of people think it is just grab the flipper an go, but there is more to drag racing then that. I.E. Hook up, body position on your sled and set up. Just my 2 cents
