3rd season on my xtx. Darting was terrible at first so I shimmed the skis to put more pressure to the rear of the ski. Loosened up the front springs. Seemed to do the trick for the most part except in certain conditions such as hard pack or cold temps when the trails are really set up. I may be done with the nytro, but want my next couple of trips to be without darting. I have a set of slydog trail skis I could put on, but some guys say they don't alleviate the darting. What options absolutely solve the darting issues???? Dually carbides on stock skis???? New skis??? What has worked for you guys??? My skis are toed out 1/8-3/32"

Dual carbides definitely work! I also found setting more weight transfer helps a lot.

I am running stub boy deuce runners w/4" carbide.
Two Words!!
Tuner Skis!!! I had a real darting problem. As well as a tough time getting my Nytro to steer on tight trails. it would hold the trail great but it took some real Muscle to move those skis ( I had CA Pros skis) i just installed the new Yamaha Tuners with 4" carbides on the inside and 6" on the outside and WOW!! what a difference. I HIGHLY recommend. and the price is very reasonable $315 for brand new skis and carbides.

I just got a 13XTX with tuner skis(standard on the 13's) and no darting and easy steering effort. Every other Nytro I have rode had terrible darting with high steering effort. Problem solved.

I have a set of simmons gen 1 skis on my 09 xtx. Couldn't be happier. NO darting at all

Toe out is good! I went straight to yamaha mountain skis and added 6 inch stud boy deuce bars. 6 inch because of the 144 track. Works excellent. I would think the deuce bars would work just as well on stock skis.

I had the same problem one night last week (hard pack and in a long straight away) with my 09 XTX w/dual tuners 6" carbides in and out....sled felt really unstable and was jerking me all over the place. I was ready to trade it in the next day or go buy different skis, I honestly felt like the sled was possessed!!
I came to a few conclusions.....
1. It was after a long 300mi day and I was letting the sled work me over vs me working the sled
2. Front suspension was way to tight...changed it when I got home but have not tested
3. Was not maintaining a constant speed, every time I increased speed darting was less but due to fatigue and nervousness I kept letting off which made the darting worse.
4. Snow conditions were icy hard pack and the tuners were trying to find an old line to run in...got on fresh grooming that same night and had zero darting
Other than that single night the setup performed flawless the rest of the trip and I never felt the crazy darting again....I came to the final conclusion, ride it like you stole it or you will hate the sleds characteristics in certain snow conditions. The less you push it the more quirky stuff the sled will do and it will become unpredictable.

Although ski choice is an important factor, proper toe out and play in the front end components are far more important. If there's play in anything the trail can grab your skis and do whatever it wants with them, causing the feeling of excessive darting
