Hey MtViper is that a Mnt. Tamer skid in the back round. What rails are you using? 144??

Yes it is. I'm using 144" ice age rails.
Thought about going longer, but decided to stay with the 144" 16" 2" track instead. I actually prefer I little shorter track, even though I'm a mountain rider. I suppose it's carry over from all those years of riding short tracks in the mountains.

Just wondering why everyone is trying to put a gas can on the tunnel behind the exhaust, has anyone tried using the fuel caddy Yamaha offers (SMA-8GL63-30-00)?

I was going to get this for my Nytro but do not see anyone talking about this option. Is there a problem with mounting them on the sides like this that I am unaware of? It seems to make sense to me, any thoughts?

Thanks

I thought about getting them, but the biggest thing I didn't like was with them on they are the widest part of the sled. Was worried you would be banging them when riding through the trees when off trail. Otherwise I think they would be great for trail riding.

I've heard the fuel caddies work really well. I don't think I've heard a single bad thing about them besides the price.

I spent the extra money and bought the trail tank to carry extra fuel. Only reason I have a rear rack is for some storage.

I bought a used set of Yamaha fuel caddys and dont think Im going to use them if anybody is interested.

I like to carry a solid 5 or 6 gallons of fuel on the rear of my sleds. I don't have much choice here unless I want to tow fuel in a boggan (which blows)

I guess getting an exhaust turnout that sticks out a little longer would allow you to put anything back there without worry.

if it works...

glad to hear you guys are finding stuff that works.
see you all next season on the trail!

I have the caddies...2500 miles with out leaking and I have never had problems with them hitting anything in the trees.

um not so fast...

um, you cant put ANY fuel back there as long as the exhaust stays up there.
need to go undertunnel to do fuel and tunnel bag.
many have tried gas cans up there with turnouts...and many have melted gas cans, one has popped. problem is at speed, the hot exhaust still goes straight back to the can. thats why yamis rack has a turnout, AND stainless heat guard.
also, sled solutions had to cancel the XTX tunnel pack because he couldnt stop it from melting despite the shape. tried 3 different designs.
both me and stopdropandroll have the undertunnel with fuel and bags on the tunnel. and it is so worth the effort.
doo jerry can fits nicely with their brackets.
You could if you think about how you are putting the Mountain Addiction Tanks on. I looked a my nytro xtx and it seems like it will work great if you mount the tanks as far to the left or the exhaust(looking from the back) and if you install them so the you push the tanks on from the back. So they slide toward the exhaust instead of from left to right or right to left. I look at it and it should work great. The tanks would be totally away from the exhaust but you could just add a turnout to be even more safe. Just as long as you mount the slider directly as far as you can on the top left of tunnel, then it should work out great. You may have to leave a little bit of the slider over hang over the back of the sled, but only like maybe a inch or inch and a half, I think this should work out great. You may not even have to over hang, I'll try to update with pics if it works out great once I order them and install.

How did you do the tail light? That is just the stock one, right? How is it held on? Was it easy to install like that?

Any of you guys know if you can take the stock tail light and attach it to just above the flap? How do you get it to stay on?

Quickly,

LED 14 inch light (trailer stuff)
Re-install the rear light at the end of the tunnel (over the flap)
yamaha turn out exhaust
LinQ tank system install at the end of the tunnel: drill the last rivet and install the support bolt
Custom (grind it) the LinQ support : the nytro tunnel is narrower than Rev XP tunnel.

Haven't blown up yet...

I've used the skidoo gas caddy, had an under tunnel exhaust at the time. I have kolpin fuel pk Jr now. I will be investing in a trail tank for next season.

I run a trackrack on my 144" RTX. Offset the rack a little bit, and buy a real turnout (not the yammi one..) and it works great!
What is a "real" turnout? Lol where else can you get one besides the Yamaha dealer?
