Hey guys, as usual I need your expert advice. I'm in the process of removing the tunnel protectors as I've read it really helps with removal of ice build up. So far I have drilled out the back and middle rivets that hold it on. However when I go up front it looks like I have to remove the pipes that come out from the engine to get at the last rivet.
Is this right? and is this the last rivet for them? I don't want to remove it if I don't have to. But it looks like I do. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

P.S. Here's a picture to make sure I'm talking about the right pipes.

What I read on here and I did was hook up a cresent wrench on the end of the bar and rotate back and forth and the rivets will break. I did drill some of the front ones out on the right hand bar from up top. I have run my sled this year without the tunnel protectors and it makes a huge difference. You will be very happy you did this!!

Okay cool, I will give that a shot. However did you drill out the rivets that are underneath those pipes up front? If so I have to take out the entire exhaust to get at them....I think.

You can get a few with the fuel tank removed and the exhaust fully installed. Then its time to play with the cresent wrench. Not a fun job. It takes some time before they break.

Just drill back middle rivets. Box wrench, twist, front ones pop right out.

Instead of taking the tank etc. off - a sharp pry bar or chisel drifted between the tunnel and the protectors on the front rivets works fine too. With the skid out is definitely easier, but I've done it with it in as well - just may need a longer bar..shears the rivets off and they'll fall right out.

I just drilled out the rear rivets, then removed the rear bolts for the skid, lifted the rear end as high as I could then took a crescent wrench to the protectors and snapped them off. Worked perfect and hasn't given me any problems in almost 2 seasons.

Hey Korey, when I did mine, all I had to do was twist and pull down for the front ones. They came right off. Are you putting the backcountry track on?
On a side note, are you getting any riding in this year? I am heading out to Nipawin next week, because apparently they have some snow! We still have nothing in Lloyd area.

Hey buddy!
Ya, I read that after I already took out the silencer and other parts. I pretty much had the back end down to nothing. Then I read my replies and went outside the other side popped out like nothing! Wish I would have called you or read my replies before I dived right in there. Oh well, it's fun to take apart sleds. No backcountry track, couldn't justify it this year with the limited amount of snow.
We've been trying to get out as much as possible, over 700 km and going up again this weekend. Snow is here, you just have to travel for it. Anyway call me some day when you're not busy. We will catch up!
