I have an overnight ride coming up in a couple weeks where I probably won't be able to get the best gas. I'll have to gas up in Warren/Sesech for you McCall, Id riders. I doubt the premium (if they even have 91) is super fresh.

Anyway...Do any of the "octane booster's" work?
I was told by a Yamaha shop that the "Klotz" octane booster actually worked. I'm considering purchasing a couple bottles and tossing em in the backback just for insurance.

I have an extra headgasket and theoretically could run on fresh 91 with no problems. But, the last thing I wanna do is burn this motor down.

At 7 psi of boost my sled is so rich that it likes the 91 octaine better than the race fuel  You want to be a little on the rich side if you are using iffy gas ;)!

Sweet i have been at 12 psi now for 1350 miles on 93oct with just one extra head gasket on a Rx1. The key is dont be lean!! On my wide band i was 10.8 at WOT! Not to much hp to gain by leaning down may be 5-6hp not worth it! just working on getting my getting right on up to that point.

For what it s worth, I'd error on the cautious side myself (I've used Torco's race fuel concentrate successfully). Having said that you probably wouldn't have to worry about it (if you can get premium) because the gas is probably "fresher" than you think (the local yamaha dealer would know), plus you will be riding at 6000ft. minimum in elevation.

I was using the Torco race fuel concentrate also.I used it at 12# on a stock motor with no problems.Comes in quart cans so it is easy to take along with you.1 quart to a full tank of 91 equals 107 octane.
