oil change problems in australia

At those temps, any good quality 5W30 or 5W40 will work just fine. Ideally, a semi or full synthetic, but good quality brand name dino oil will do the job. I use full synthetic in Canada, but I'm sure it's overkill for normal trail riding..........just makes me feel better. Just try to buy the highest API rating you can find and afford.

I would go with a multi media synthetic filter. Most filters are made of paper which is going to break down in time and not be able to perform to its full filtering capability, synthetic media will not break down and will be able to filter the way it was meant too form the day you bought it till the day you change it. The filter may get clogged or blocked if used for too long but it is better to catch any contaminants than let them filter through you engine.
