OK. I read the sticky and I'm pretty sure I got it. I have changed the oil and filter on two Phazers and based on reading the Nytro manual this seems like it may be a little easier. Here is my question.
The manual mentions removing the OIL FILLER CAP, CYLINDER HEAD CAP and the DRAIN BOLT. This CYLINDER HEAD CAP. Does this need to be removed? It seems to me that this thing could be a little tricky to get at. In the picture it appears that you are in near the spark plugs. That would involve removing a lot of plastic.
It seems to me you could drain the old oil through the DRAIN BOLT and the rest by removing the filter. Once the old oil is removed, you can replace the oil by placing the new oil into the oil sump pump located on the right side of the sled.
Based on the sticky, it seems that all you need to remove is the bottom panel. I'm going to tackle this on Wednesday. This will be the first oil change. The sled has 480 miles on it and I'm going on a longer ride this weekend so I'm going to do it before I go.
Thanks for the help.

The manual calls for pulling the oil filler plug and filling the oil in the sump tank as well as some down the cylinder. I did my first oil change this way and it is a pain. I had to remove the gas tank to get to the filler plug. From what I've been told there isn't a need to do it this way because of the design. You can put 2 qrts of oil in then start sled for a bit. Then put remaining oil in until correct amount is achieved. This is how I'm doind it from now on to avoid the gas tank issue etc.

I found a plastic funnel at a local hardware store that came with an extension tube which has 2 flex joints in it. This setup makes it very easy to get oil into the valve cover fill hole by bending the tube 90 deg at the 2 flex joints. Also, taking the battery out makes it much easier to get to the plug.
Thanks guys for the info. I will just drain the old oil and replace the filter. I will not try to get at the plug located on the top of the engine. It seems by reading the sticky that it is not necessary.
I will put in two quarts, start the motor for a bit and top it off.

The only 4-stroke sled I bothered putting some oil in thru the valvecover was on my '06 Nytro. That sled still had a hood & you could actually see the engine & remove the filler plug.
On my '08 FX Nytro, '10 Vector, & '06 Apex when I changed the oil & filter, I just filled the tank with 2.5 quarts, started them for a few minutes & then topped the tank off to 1/2 way on the checkers.
DO NOT overfill these engines. If you do they will blow the excess out into the airbox & make a mess.
