Checked my oil that was supposedly changed last year before purchase. Pretty dark looking, so decided to change before snow really gets here. Going with Amsoil 0W40 Synthetic instead of Yamalube Syn ($15.70 qt at local dealer)! Would appreciate any feedback or experience!

I'm just wondering does anyone not believe that as long as you are using known brand in the viscosity range required you'll be fine. I honestly think you would have to use a really poor oil to have problems.

I highly recommend Amsoil. I use the same stuff in my Attak. In my Mt Viper I use Amsoil Interceptor 2 stroke oil.

you are correct

I agree... I used to run citgo sea and snow in my doo, run shell rotella diesel oil in my gsxr that spins to 16,000 rpm, my cobra gets cheap 5-20 ford oil and my explorer gets whatever is on sale! The only thing I spent a bit on was mobil 1 for the sled because it was the only oil that was 0w-40.

I read this kind of stuff all the time, and really don't understand the big deal. Change it regularly and forget about it, no big diff either way. Don't ya just think its a personal perference? These engines are gonna go way more miles than we can ever put on them. Theres never a claim of any big differences, It just seems like the same old question." Personal perference", Like one guy likes Fords and swears they are the best, and the next guy knows that Chevys Rule, untill we are all convinced that Dodge rules the roost with a CUMMINS for sure! I just wanna ride!

Redline 0-20. This oil has high film strength and makes more hp than the thicker oils like 0-40. Throttle response also increases too. I have been using it for 3 abusive years now with no problems and no oil use. Also use their lightweight gear oil in the chaincase... Joe Gibbs makes some great lightweight oils too. Ulmer Racing sells the Joe Gibbs stuff.

I agree 100%. I certainly don't have anything against the aftermarket oils though. I believe these engines are pretty dang bullet proof. Lots of RPMs though!
Tomorrow my post will be, - "How much does it cost to rebuild a four stroke?"
