Will this post prove Motoman and myself correct in our break in beliefs? Yeah, hehe.
You've got a warrantee, why not beat on it, break it in fast, get more ring seal/power/less oil consumption, and if the bottom end lets go, drop it off at the dealer?

yamaha says this oil use is normal , and as much as I don't want mine to use any , if I drove my pickup the way I drive my sled I bet it would use oil too

900 miles now with little oil use, just what comes up and out the vent that came with the filters.Grandma next door drove the sled close to breakin instructions,6000rpm or below which was 37mph for awhile with up and down rpm usage above 6000 at times. The more miles the faster I rode it.Once over about 190 miles then I pushed it more up and down with the rpms a little. After 250miles- WFO whenever I had the chance.Changed oil just before 500mi.

Broke mine in basically by the book maybe a little more rpm than what's stated lot of heat cycling in the fall prior to the season, never had it at wot till about 1800 km's after that it was wot just about anywhere I could. Now have 2850 km's on it getting faster each time out,so far I've beat up on sx,srx,mxz,zrt,f7's,rev's,all 700 and up don't use a drop!
