hey guys...budy just pick up 03 RX-1 with bender 2 stage turbo....it was running fine and then had the up-date kit to eliminate the oil tank at the rear.....took it out today and would not run right , pulled the air filter at the turbo was full of oil , so was the air box....the only way i can see oil getting in ther would be a seal gone in the turbo.....any thoughts?

there,s something wrong with your oil return, I am not familiar with the bender I have a front mount but if you have a restriction in the return it will blow through the seals in the turbo no where else for it to go.

MAKE SURE YOUR OIL SCAVENGER PUMP IS WORKING, CHECK FUSE, WIRING ETC. (IF IT ISN'T IT WILL LOAD UP INSTANTLY) PERHAPS IT IS AIR LOCKED. DID YOU "PRIME" THE PUMP BEFORE YOU STARTED IT UP. iS THE FLOW CONTROL ORIFICE STILL IN THE PRESSURE LINE (SHOULD BE IN HOSE AT THE TANK WHERE THE TWO PIECES OF TUBE JOIN TOGETHER)?

today we went through all the line ....no kinks, took the pump out , clean it , put it back together tested it work fine.....disconected the line at the turbo and that seems to be were the probleme is, the oil barly comes out the line .....keep getting oil in the intake side.....are the seal in tere know to fail? there is only 600m on this turbo and the previous owner did not really push it to hard......starting to get fustrated.

Oil going to the turbo is not supposed to be very much. If you have an air leak on the suction side of the scavenger pump then it will not suck the oil back from the turbo. If you have verified that the scavenger pump in fact pumps oil (by placing the suction of the pump into a quart of oil and pumping) then you should see what the output of the pump is when it is running on your sled if you don't have anything coming out (which is what I suspect is the problem) then you must be sucking air somewhere. (try placing the suction of the scavenger pump into some oil at the rear of the sled and see if it will pump the oil) I suupose it is possible that the turbo seal itself is bad (hard or cracked) it could be the problem. If you doubt it replace it. You don't know how hot the last guy might have gotten the turbo. My brother was having a problem once in a while with oil into the intake and he put the output from the scavenger pump back to the reservoir in its own port. I haven't had any problems with my Vector.

yes thats how we tested the pump, bye putting it in a oil jug...very good flow.....the only line that we have not cheched is the one going from the turbo to the pump....mabe somthing suck in there.....we will keep triying ....thanks all for any tips.

unless you ran the turbo with out oil the seals should be ok, they are disigned to do what they are doing if there is a restriction in the return.

were the turbo return fitting is if you disconect it should alot of oil be coming out or just a bit??

there should be the same amount coming out as is going, should be a fair amount coming out even with a restricter in the feed line.

sorry....I meant the other line ....there is good flow going to the turbo....its getting the oil out of the turbo is were we are having the probleme.

if you are refering to me and my budy.......not really , but we are quick lerners.....I think we found the probleme.....bad info...after we took the pump apart it was dirty so we thought " right on theres the probleme" hook it back up , and barly any oil coming out of the return line at idle , we were told that it shoulds have a nice flow at idle....so we kept trying to find the probleme .....well we finaly got ahold of Terry from bender he told us that at idle we wont see much , try on the stand get some rpm then we should a steady flow......and VOLA it works....we just wanted to make sure it was all working correctly before we started putting some rpm to it.

thanks everyone for all the help and tanks Terry if you read these sites.

:yam:

Do you have the restrictor jet in there? Did I miss the answer to that question?

yes....that was one of the first things we check. We ran it all weekend we no problemes , but I guess these things burn oil?......after 300km had to add 1/2 qt oil.

They are not supposed to use oil, just a little like all other 4stroke engines. You are most likely loosing oil thrugh the piston rings or through the seals in the turbo.
