2020 Sidewinder LTX SE
Hey all! I just bought my 2nd Yamaha 1st one is a 09 Nytro that I got for my 16 yr old and he loves it. Myself I’ve always been a Arctic cat guy.
Anyways I just bought a 2020 Sidewinder LTX Se. Took it for a rip on the lake and parked it. The next day I moved sled and there was a pile of oil under it so I checked the oil and sure enough it wasn’t even in the tube. It was a quart low so I opened airbox and the oil came running out and I mean a pile of it! I cleaned the filter and filled the oil to the correct level went out for a 3 mile ride and when I got back the filter was dripping oil again and the oil level was barely in the tube. I’m planning on bringing it back to dealer in the morning but was wondering if anyone has had this problem also?

This is a known issue on vipers as their is a water separator that has a check ball in it and it can freeze up causing oil to be pumped into the air box via a breather tube. Do a quick search and read up, lots of comments.

I often get a small amount of residual oil in my air box but never experienced what you and other have. My viper is 4 yrs old and last week I pulled the water separator and cleaned it. Mine was fine, others have been loaded with junk.

This shouldn’t happen IMO. Total joke!

Sidewinders are different

How are you checking oil? It should be done with the sled at operating temperature
