So I just bought a nytro and it has an oil leak . About a 4 " puddle after running it for a min . Puddle showed up hours later under belly pan. What should I look 4?

More info to add. Typed the original post from my phone and kept it short.

Took the sled for test ride, did not see any oil after ride or after 2 hr ride in trailer below machine. Rode it again for 5 min and pulled it into garage to start studding track. Had the rear end lifted about 2 ft in air with skis on ground while we were studding track. pulled it around to other side of garage. Next day rode for 5 min in backyard, pulled it in and noticed oil in water dripping off machine. next day started for a min or two and watched for oil, didn't see any, and didn't see any an hour or two later. After sitting overnight there was a small puddle.

I'm wondering if there was some oil in the airbox that leaked out while the sled was jacked up? Could that happen if say too much oil was added when the PO changed the oil, it pukes into airbox then comes out when tilted. Or would it drip out on level ground?

On thursday when i get home I am going to check:
1. hose to airbox to make sure it's attached
2. oil tank for cracks
3. oil filter for damage, missing seal, double seals, etc
4. crankcase for potential leaks there
5. check airbox for oil
6. oil tank levels and crackcase oil level.

looks like the PO hit something on left side of sled and dented the running board, but it's really on the left, i don't think it could have cracked the case.

I'm pissed i didn't see it when i was looking it over before i purchased it. stupid.

Sounds like an overfill issue.

I overfilled my Vector & it dripped a very little bit on the level, but airbox was full. I cleaned up the mess & learned my lesson. The intake ports on the box are at the front-bottom, so it makes sense that it ran out like it did when you jacked it up.

Oil level is checked with dipstick NOT screwed in & level should be on 1/2 full.

My vector had a crack in oil tank with just over 2000 miles. Check bottom mount area of oil tank. Mine was such a fine crack you couldn't even see it but could feel the oil. Seemed to be a common thing because of the solid mount and a very thin tank.

The oil tanks have had an issue with cracking near the lower front mounting tab. Also, there is a small drain on the right rear corner of the air box that runs to the stator cover. Always make sure that is on and secured. When checking oil level never screw in the dip stick, just place it on top of the tank. If it's overfilled or the sled is tipped to the side oil will enter the air box and leak out the bottom drain.

The orange o-ring was not on the dipstick. It had fallen off and I found it under the oil tank. Put it back on, problem solved. The PO must have dropped it during the oil change.

Update: rode it about 200 mile this past weekend no issues, love when problems are this simple to fix. ;)!
