Removed my skid plates today to change oil for first time. Three oil drops are hanging off of crankcase cover. Oil film on inside skid and all around motor base. Seems to also be some on lower section of air box. Nothing is coming from oil filter or either drain plug. Sled has not been rolled or tipped on side. Oil tank has no oil under it or on the hose.Took sled to dealer and was told of a service bulletin on the crankcase vent but I could not get him to elaborate. Has anybody heard about this bulletin or is he full FOS????

leftdoo,
My Nytro had oil in the skid plate also. I spent a few hours investigating and found that it is definitely coming from the air box. I spoke to my dealer but he didn't mention anything about a service bulletin. Let me know if you hear anything else.
Thanks
Mike

Have either of your nytros been up on their sides? I seem to remember something in the manual about not tilting them to a specific side because of this exact thing, and I remember 08NytroRTX posted about something very similar as well. A search might be in order.

As stated, this sled has not been on its side for even a second. All work/adjustments are done upright with a hand crane.

Mine did this with the factory oil in the motor. My dealer said the factory slightly over filled some of the Nytros and the oil you are seeing was blown out of the breather and into the air box. It then drips out all over the front of your motor. He saw the same thing on his son's Nytro. My dealer said not to run the oil level all the way to the top of the stick when I do my first oil change. It won't hurt anything to not have the oil level filled to the brim.

Picked sled up from dealer today. They had called Yamaha and were told the same thing that oil level was to high. Cleaned everything up and will keep an eye on it but I think that was the problem. My dealer he-haaawed a bit wether or not this is a warranty item but since this is the way it was from dealer set up I think he gets my drift.

The oil being overfilled from the factory sounds like a reasonable explanation to me. My sled has never been tipped or on its side. I noticed the oil on the front of the engine and in the skid plate at about 275 miles. Since then, I cleaned it up and have put an additional 75 miles on it with no issues. I will be changing my oil soon and will pay close attention when refilling. I'm going to stick with the exact amount specified in the manual.

When you guys say 'crankcase breather' are you referring to the hose that connects from the top of the oil reservoir and going into the top of the airbox? or are you talking about another breather?

The breather hose is located on the left side of the airbox when standing in front of the sled. My airbox had standing oil inside it.

Is that really called the crankcase breather?
Shouldn't it be called the oil reservoir breather? I thought the crankcase was the bottom of the motor.

My dealer refuse to belive me When I said there is oild all over? My air box was filled with it. Said I tiped it on the side. What ever. No someone over filled it and it blew into my air box.
I just posted this the other day under the 4 stroke air intake forum.
I just bought a 06 Rage with 1200 miles. Everything was Very clean under the hood. After riding only 10 miles I noticed oil dripping. I opened everything up and found the air box filled with oil. Afted doing a search I thounght I better check for pinched lines. When I removed the air box a 1/2 cup of oil spilled out of the breather line. I opened uo the oil seperator and found that 1/2 full of milky oil. I checked the oil before riding and it was ok. Now it is down 1/2 court. The parts inside the seperator seem to be distorted. There were no lines pinched.
