Oil Leaking / Breather leaking 2009 Vector

I have a question about an oil leak on a 2009 Vector. Actually was riding with my uncles and both 2009 Vector's were leaving oil spots. One sled has 3K miles the other 6.5K miles.

We noticed the oil in the morning on the garage floor, it was leaking from under the front of the engine near where the back of the control arms connect to the bulk head. We took off the plastic and it appears to be coming from the air box breather area. We cleaned this off and went for a ride. 75 miles later the airbox had more oil & the sleds were again leaving spots on the floor. It was pretty cold outside around 5 degrees. They ran the sleds all last season and never noticed any leakage. All hoses are hooked up as far was we can tell.

It's wierd that both machines are doing the same exact thing. Is this something you guys see often?

Sounds overfull to me. They will puke into the airbox when overfull.

Proper oil level check.... start, let warm-up, shut engine off, pull dipstick, wipe off, drop in, DO NOT SCREW IN, oil should only be 1/2 full mark on dipstick checkers. If it's at full or higher, it's overfull, and will puke out the breather into the airbox.

Another possible issue, but unlikely, is one of the breather hoses being iced up or kinked causing excess crankcase pressure.

My money is on overfull oil.

My Venture will do it when it is really cold , the vent line will collect moisture and freeze up , freaked me out when I seen the oil on the floor , but it is a Yamaha thing from what I hear

I changed the oil on one of the machines and it was to the top of the cross hatch area. I will have them bring the oil level down to the middle and see what happens.

The way I see it is that you should only put in 3.2 Quarts when changing the oil and filter and draining the bottom of the engine. If you screw with the dip stick as you add oil, you will over fill the engine with oil everytime and it will puke into the airbox.
